Yesterday, we reported that singer Mariah Carey’s mother Patricia and sister Alison had died on the same day over the weekend. While there are still few details available about Patricia’s death, sad new information is coming to light about Alison’s.

Mariah Reveals Mother And Sister’s Deaths

Mariah, 55, confirmed the deaths of her mother and sister in a brief statement.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” she told People Magazine.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Mariah added. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Mariah ‘Never Tried To Contact Alison’

Mariah and Alison, 63, had been estranged for many years prior to the latter’s death. Alison’s longtime friend David Baker, who cared for her in her final days, is now claiming that Mariah never reached out despite being told her sister was dying.

“Alison was unhappy that her ‘baby sister’ had cut off contact with her,” David told The Sun. “She talked about it frequently. She wondered if Mariah or any of her relatives would come to her funeral.”

“No, Mariah has never tried to contact Alison, even after she was told a month ago that Alison was dying,” he continued. “A phone call or, better still, a video call would have meant so much to Alison. But it never came. And now Mariah is ‘heartbroken’ by the loss of her mother and her ‘ex’ sister. That callous rejection added more hurt to Alison’s pain.”

David had been friends with Alison for the last nine years of her life. She had struggled with addiction and homelessness in the past, and had been HIV positive for decades. David revealed that Alison had been on hospice for the past three weeks after developing issues with her internal organs.

“Beneath a tough exterior, Alison was a highly intelligent, warm, and sensitive person,” he said. “I have known her for nine years, and as her friend, and in recent months her care, I will miss her greatly.”

No funeral for Alison has been planned at this time.

“I am told that a memorial service is planned for a future date, but nothing now,” David said.

Alison’s ‘Satanic’ Claims

Alison had spoken to the press various times over the years. In 2018, she claimed to have witnessed “Satanic” ceremonies by a close family member in her youth. She also alleged that she was sexually abused.

“It sounds hard to believe, and I have so many memories I wish I never had,” she said at the time.

“A close family member used to wake me up just before 2 am and take me to an old hall that looked like a castle, which was a short walk from the church we used to attend in Huntington, New York,” Alison continued. “The place is still there. I could show you exactly where it is…”

“Then terrible things would happen – things that a child should never see,” Alison added. “I was sexually abused there. They told me that if I didn’t do what they told me or if I told them what was going on they would harm Mariah.”

Mariah Cuts Off Alison

For her part, Mariah has accused Alison of trying to force her to take drugs when she was still a pre-teen. She also alleged that Alison and their brother Morgan, 64, would each “sell lies” about her to the press. That’s why Mariah ultimately felt that she had no choice but to cut them both out of her life forever.

Even, apparently, to the very end.

“For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family … Morgan my ex-brother and Alison my ex-sister … I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the … big brother and big sister I fantasized about,” she wrote in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

Family dynamics can be difficult, particularly when fame, addiction, and mental health become involved. We can only hope that Alison is at peace, and that Mariah is taking the time she needs to mourn her family.
