Earlier this week, we reported that the actress Ruby Rose had accused the singer Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her at a nightclub in Australia nearly 20 years ago. Now, an article written by Rose in 2011 has resurfaced. In it, she revealed disturbing details about the alleged 2010 sexual assault.
Rose Sounds Off
An essay published by the Herald Sun in 2011 details how an intoxicated Rose, 40, “threw up” on Perry, 41, while they were both on a wild night out at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt.
Rose and Perry started their night by crashing a high school formal that was being held at the hotel. They then headed to the Spice Market, which is a night club that is located in the hotel’s complex.
“I spectacularly lost dignity (and keys) one night not too long ago. Remember when Katy Perry and I crashed the year 12 formal? I don’t. I had been off the grog for 30 days – my first attempt at sobriety – and I was out partying with Katy,” Rose wrote.
“What I do remember thinking was: ‘I’ll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?'” she continued. “Well, not stopping at one drink, or ten, and then vomiting on Katy’s foot was the answer.”
Rose went on to say that “nothing horrific happened” during the night, which she described as being “one of the best decisions of my life.”
Rose Accuses Perry
Last weekend, however, Rose claimed that Perry sexually assaulted her that night while she was “resting” on a friend’s lap. Rose alleged that this sexual assault is what led to her “projectile vomiting” on Perry.
Rose had initially accused Perry of sexually assaulting her in a social media post on Sunday. She wrote it in response to a Complex article about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance over the weekend.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a [expletive] what she thinks,” Rose wrote.
Rose later added that she was “only in my early 20s” at the time of the alleged incident. She also said that “it has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.”
“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes,” she wrote.
Rose went on to claim that Perry “saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.”
Rose then said that Perry is “more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people).”
“Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing,” Rose added. “The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
This was seemingly a reference to Perry’s hit song “I Kissed A Girl.”
Perry Fires Back
Perry has denied the allegations that Rose has made.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,” Perry’s rep told Daily Mail. “Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Victoria Police have since confirmed to Australian media outlets The Sydney Morning Herald and the Herald Sun that they are investigating this alleged sexual assault.
“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,” said a Victoria Police spokesman.
Perry is currently dating the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Only time will tell how this situation unfolds for her.
