Katy Perry is being investigated by police in Australia for allegedly sexually assaulting Ruby Rose. This alleged assault took place at a nightclub nearly twenty years ago.

Perry Under Investigation

Victoria Police confirmed to Australian media outlets The Sydney Morning Herald and the Herald Sun that they are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne back in 2010. Detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation team are investigating claims that were made by Rose, 40.

“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,” said a Victoria Police spokesman.

Rose previously claimed that Perry, 41, sexually assaulted her while they were out at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. She’s claimed that this happened when she was in her “early 20s.” Earlier this week, Perry denied the claims through her rep.

“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,” Perry’s rep told People Magazine. “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals. Claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

Rose Sounds Off

Rose confirmed on Tuesday that she had reported the matter to police.

“As of this afternoon, I have finalised all my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved,” Rose said on Threads on Tuesday.

“It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not,” she continued. “This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary move forward. I love you all so much.”

One day before that, Rose took to Threads to write, “Today I will be walking into a police station to see if any of my experiences can be investigated. I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try.”

Rose Accuses Perry

Rose had initially accused Perry of sexually assaulting her in a social media post on Sunday. She wrote it in response to a Complex article about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance over the weekend.

“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a [expletive] what she thinks,” Rose wrote.

Rose later added that she was “only in my early 20s” at the time of the alleged incident. She also said that “it has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.”

“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes,” she wrote.

Rose went on to claim that Perry “saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.”

Rose then said that Perry is “more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people).”

“Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one,” Rose added.

Only time will tell how this investigation ultimately turns out for Perry.
