Last week, we reported that Prince Harry is eager to reconcile with the royal family. Indeed, insiders are alleging that Harry has “regrets” about the things he’s done to the royals in recent years.
Now, however, Harry’s alleged efforts to reconcile with the royals appear to have hit a snag. Unfortunately for Harry, his past has just come back to haunt him, as his father King Charles’ former royal butler is speaking out to accuse him of lying.
Former Royal Butler Sounds Off
Grant Harrold has written a new memoir “The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service,” which hits stores today. In it, he talks about his time both working for and becoming friends with the King and his wife Queen Camilla.
In a new interview, Harrold is admitting that he was stunned when he read Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare.” According to Harrold, many of the claims that Harry made about life in the royal family in this book were simply not accurate.
“I’ve openly talked about this because … his memories and mine are very different,” Harrold told Fox News. “You think we [were] in two different households because I talked about this happy family … with his stepmother and everything. He’s saying he didn’t. I never witnessed that.”
“I saw some magazine [clippings] the other day … from the King’s wedding,” the former royal butler continued. “When you look at these pictures of Harry around his stepmother, both leaving Windsor and chasing after the cars, that’s not somebody who’s unhappy. If he was really that unhappy, I know people who wouldn’t even go to weddings or wouldn’t even get involved because they’re unhappy. And I was there the night before. There was a dinner for [Prince] William, Harry and the King. … it was a lovely occasion … There were no issues.”
Harry Bashed Royals In ‘Spare’
Harry used his book to shamelessly bash the royal family. He went into great detail about his alleged sibling rivalry with his older brother Prince William. Harry also alleged that the King didn’t hug him when he told him about his mother Princess Diana’s death in 1997. On top of that, Harry also claimed that he and William begged their father not to marry Camilla. According to Harry, they feared that she would be a “wicked stepmother” to them.
Harrold, however, finds all of this hard to believe. During his time working for in the royal household, Harrold didn’t see any signs of Harry being unhappy with his family.
“With mental health, you sometimes have no idea someone is unhappy about anything,” Harrold explained. “He could have been pretending. I’m not saying he’s not [sincere], but all I know is there was no evidence of him being unhappy at all or suffering from any kind of mental health issues. But it’s a silent thing, so it’s possible. But nobody knew.”
“My memories are definitely very different from his,” said Harrold. “It’s almost as if it were a different household, but it wasn’t. That was his household, it was his home. And it’s where I spent a lot of time as well. It’s interesting because the Queen said, ‘recollections may vary.'”
Queen Elizabeth Was Right All Along
This was a reference to how Queen Elizabeth responded to claims being made by Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. Before her death in September of 2022, the Queen did indeed say that “recollections may vary” when it comes to allegations that Harry and Meghan made against the royals.
“She talked about that toward the end of her life about the situation. And it’s true,” Harrold said of the Queen. “My memories and Harry’s are obviously very different. It’s up to people to read my book and make their own minds about it. But I think … if they read what I’ve put, look at press clippings or any TV footage from back in the day, they can then make their minds up. And I think it’ll be quite obvious that something, as I keep saying, doesn’t add up.”
A spokesman for Harry has already spoken out to say that he will not be commenting on Harrold’s book at all. It will certainly be interesting to see what impact, if any, the claims being made by Harrold have on Harry’s alleged hopes for a royal reconciliation!
