Earlier this week, we reported that Prince Harry had met with his father King Charles in person for the first time in 19 months. Indeed, the pair enjoyed a “private tea” in London for around 55 minutes on Wednesday.

Now, royal insiders are claiming that Harry has “regrets” about some of his actions since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in January of 2020. According to these sources, Harry is desperate for a “reset” with his family, as he wants to be back in the royal fold.

Harry’s Alleged ‘Regrets’

Harry, 40, just concluded a rare four-day trip to the United Kingdom. This trip included a reconciliation meeting with the King, 76. According to one royal source, this brought Harry, Meghan, and their two young children one step closer to being part of the “functioning wider family again.”

“It’s become clear that Harry now regrets some of his actions,” this royal insider told Daily Mail. “He wants to reset his relationship with his family and with the people of the U.K.

“It’s hard to see him ever coming back to live in Britain but this may be the start of something that at least allows them to be a functioning wider family again,” the source added.

Harry met with the King at Clarence House, which is Charles’ residence in London. The King is reportedly eager to see his grandchildren Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 3. Charles has not seen either of them in over three years. In fact, the King has only met Lilibet once, and he’s seen Archie just a handful of times.

“The King wants to be a grandfather to his grandchildren so that’s an important pull,” the royal insider explained. “He was so pleased when they came over for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee and he was able to spend some time with them.”

Will Meghan Return To The U.K.?

When it comes to Meghan, however, it’s less clear as to whether she’d return to the U.K. again. Meghan has not returned to the U.K. since Queen Elizabeth died in September of 2022 at the age of 96.

After Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals, their taxpayer-funded security was reduced. This sparked their bitter legal battle with the Home Office. However, if Harry and Meghan were to visit the King, they would likely have armed bodyguards to protect them.

“There are all sorts of obstacles to that happening again because of Harry’s insistence that they have guaranteed armed police protection,” the royal insider continued. “But maybe there is a way of getting them over to Balmoral or Sandringham next year or another royal residence where they are within the security perimeter.”

Harry And Meghan Bash The Royals

Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals back in 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.

In the years since then, Harry and Meghan have bashed the royal family seemingly every chance they’ve gotten in books, interviews, and docuseries. This has led to Harry becoming estranged from much of the royal family, including his older brother Prince William, 43. Indeed, Harry allegedly did not see William at all during this week’s U.K. visit.

Despite everything that he’s said and done, Harry has claimed that he wants to reconcile with the royals.

“I would love reconciliation with my family,” Harry told the BBC back in May. “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”

After everything he’s done, however, a true reconciliation with all of the royal family may not be so easy for Harry to achieve. Find out more about that in the video below.

We can certainly understand why the King would be eager to reestablish a relationship with his son and grandchildren. However, Harry has shown time and time again that the royals should be wary about trusting him.

Only time will tell if Harry is ever able to actually reconcile with the royals!
