Rumors have been swirling as of late that Rosie O’Donnell is joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars. Now, O’Donnell is speaking out to respond to these rumors for the first time.
O’Donnell Responds To ‘DWTS’ Rumors
O’Donnell, 64, took to Instagram on Monday to share an AI-generated image of a faux newspaper front page. The image showed her in a sequin dress and looking as if she was about to compete in the ballroom.
Much to the dismay of those who wanted to see O’Donnell compete, however, she’s putting these rumors to rest.
“This made me laugh- reminds me to never get a perm !!! completely untrue but funny,” O’Donnell wrote.
O’Donnell Flees America
This comes one year after O’Donnell fled America and moved to Ireland. She did this because of Donald Trump’s second presidential victory.
O’Donnell shocked the world last year when she announced that she had fled America because of Trump’s victory.
“I’m here in Ireland, and it’s beautiful and warm – not physically, it’s actually quite cold,” O’Donnell said in a video posted to TikTok on March 11, 2025. “Moved here on Jan. 15, and it’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say.”
“Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,” O’Donnell later added. “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”
O’Donnell went on to indicate that she might actually have some regrets about this move.
“I miss my other kids, I miss my friends,” she lamented. “I miss many things about life there at home. And I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country.”

O’Donnell Comes Crawling Back
In February of this year, however, O’Donnell admitted that she had quietly come crawling back to America.
“I was recently went home for two weeks and I did not really tell anyone, I just went to see my family,” O’Donnell said at the time. She added that she “wanted to see how hard it would be for me to get in and out of the country. I wanted to feel what it felt like.”
“I wanted to hold my children again,” the mother of five continued. “And I hadn’t been home in over a year. I also wanted to make sure that it was safe for me before I brought my daughter this summer, where we plan to spend the summertime off from her schooling here with my family.”
O’Donnell could not help but admit that she was “very excited to be home.”
It looks like America isn’t so bad after all, huh Rosie? Go figure!
Since O’Donnell has fled America, it seems more unlikely than ever that she would join the cast of Dancing With The Stars. Given how out of shape she appears to be, we doubt that competing on the grueling reality show would go very well for her anyway.
