The legendary comedian Roseanne Barr is preparing to launch her latest Hollywood comeback with an epic new show about a family that aims to “save America with guns, the Bible, petty crime, and alcoholism.”
Eat your heart out, coastal elites!
Barr’s Zany New Show
Barr, 72, describes the new show as “a cross between The Roseanne Show and The Sopranos.” It centers on a small-town farming family as they live their lives in Alabama.
Barr wrote the show with the Roseanne alum Allan Stephan, and they are about to take it to market. She will star on the show herself, and it will play out in four to six episodes in line with the shorter format most popular in the U.K. Barr’s character on the show reportedly grows and sells drugs like cannabis and magic mushrooms.
“It’s silly and out there,” Barr told Variety. “[It will contain] very offensive ideas and a lot of swearing. I live with my daughter and her husband and their six children on a farm. And they have goats running through their house and stuff.”
“It’s based on my life as a farmer in Hawaii,” she continued. “They save America with guns, the Bible, petty crime and alcoholism. It’s kind of like the Coen brothers thing.”
We don’t know about you, but Hawaii sounds awesome.

Barr Is Determined To Make This Show
Barr went on to describe one of the unique scenes from her new show.
“There’s a scene where I have to strap myself into a corset,” she teased. “My granddaughter helps me, and then I go into town to flirt with all the shopkeepers that are just grotesque people. It’s just kind of a cartoony kind of thing.”
Barr is determined to make this show, whether a Hollywood studio picks it up or not.
“If Hollywood doesn’t buy it, then I’m just gonna make it myself,” she adamantly stated. “Does anybody in [Hollywood] like America or the people who watch TV? Because the people who watch TV would really like to see a show where working-class people win against the enemies of America.”
“I don’t give a [expletive] either way,” she explained. “I’d like to get paid handsomely to bring another [expletive] network back from doom as I’ve done twice for ABC. But I just don’t see how they would keep their nose out of my business. We’ll see. If not, I’ll just go somewhere else and put it on my own website.”

Barr Overcomes Cancel Culture
This comes after Barr was cancelled by Hollywood back in 2018. She found herself embroiled in controversy at the time after she posted a tweet about former President Barack Obama’s advisor Valerie Jarrett that was deemed to be racist. Barr was immediately fired from her own show Roseanne by ABC, and she hasn’t worked in the mainstream entertainment world since.
“Hollywood has made itself irrelevant to the American people,” she concluded. “They should get back in touch with [the American people] and make some money, which I don’t know if they do or not ’cause they’ve proven to be ideologues rather than [business people]. What shocks me is the fact that they prefer to lose money and then explain that to the shareholders who apparently have no problem with that.”
Barr’s new show certainly seems like one for the ages. Here’s hoping it gets picked up, because we’d sure love to see it!
