We previously reported that the former All In The Family star Rob Reiner was found dead along with his wife Michele on Sunday, December 14. They were allegedly stabbed to death by their own son Nick, who reportedly slit each of their throats. He has since been arrested and charged with their double murders.
Now, Rob and Michele’s death certificates have been released. Indeed, the documents are revealing some extremely tragic and disturbing details about their final moments.
Rob And Michele Took ‘Minutes’ To Die
Death certificates obtained by TMZ show that Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, died of “multiple sharp force injuries” inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14. Their injuries were caused “with [a] knife, by another.”
Sadly, it appears that their deaths were not quick. Their death certificates list the time between the onset of injuries and death as being “minutes.”
The documents go on to say that Rob was found first at 3:45pm. Michele, who is listed as “widowed,” was found one minute later at 3:46pm.
People Magazine has confirmed that the bodies of Rob and Michele were repatriated to their families on December 19. The couple has since been cremated.
Reiner Children Speak Out
Rob and Michele’s children Jake, 34, and Romy, 27, spoke out on Monday to offer a brief statement thanking the public for their support.
“Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received,” the siblings’ spokesperson told People.
“They will share information about a memorial service honoring their parents at a later date,” the spokesperson added.
Jake and Romy had previously addressed their parents’ deaths publicly on December 17.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” the brother and sister said at the time. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life,” they continued. “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Sadly, it was Romy who found her parents’ bodies on the afternoon of December 14.
Reiners’ Final Hours
The Reiners were last seen on the night of Saturday, December 13, when they attended a Christmas party with Nick that was hosted by Conan O’Brien. There, Nick was seen acting strangely, and other guests saw him get into a heated argument with Rob.
“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” a source told People Magazine.
Rob, Michele, and Nick eventually left the party together. It is believed that Nick killed them in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Later that day, a masseuse arrived at the Reiner home for a prescheduled appointment. When nobody answered the door, the masseuse called their daughter Romy, who lives across the street.
Romy was able to enter the home, only to find the body of her father. She immediately fled and told her roommate, who was waiting outside, to call the police. Romy was so distraught by the bloody scene that she didn’t notice the body of her mother. She had to be told by paramedics upon their arrival that her mother was dead as well.
Nick was apprehended around six hours later near the University of Southern California campus. By then, he had checked into a local hotel, with his room there being covered in blood.
