The country music star Reba McEntire returned to the sitcom world this season with her new NBC television show Happy’s Place. The sitcom premiered in October, and its season finale aired in March.

Now that Happy’s Place has been renewed for a second season, McEntire could not help but become emotional as she discussed reuniting with some of her former Reba co-stars and collaborators for this new sitcom.

McEntire Gets ‘Choked Up’ Discussing Reba Co-Stars

Reba originally ran from 2001 until 2007, and it’s still beloved by legions of fans to this day. McEntire gushed that getting the chance to work with many of the people who made Reba a success again has been like recapturing “magic in a bottle.”

“The first time we went into a table read, it was very nostalgic,” McEntire, 70, told People Magazine. “It was very emotional. I mean, see, I’m getting choked up right now. That’s the way it was for all of us to be so blessed. If you get one really good sitcom that lasts for six seasons, you think, ‘Man, I’ve got the golden ring. That’ll be it. Probably never do it again, because that’s magic in a bottle.’ We got it again and we realize it.”

Getting to reunite with many of the people behind Reba has made it easier for McEntire to adjust to the grind of doing a sitcom again.

“It’s a lot of fun and we already know each other’s bad habits and good habits, what we like, what we don’t,” she explained. “So it’s real easy to step in back into that with the crew. You love people you get to work together with that you’ve worked with before. It’s just so much easier than starting over.”

Reba Stars Return For Happy’s Place

On Happy’s Place, McEntire is joined by her former Reba co-star Melissa Peterman. The two of them had been trying to find something to work on together ever since Reba ended.

“Ever since we stopped doing Reba, we’ve been looking for another project to do,” McEntire previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “I love the sitcom genre. Out of all the things I do, this is my favorite.”

McEntire and Peterman’s Reba co-stars Christopher Rich and Steve Howey each guest-starred on Happy’s Place episodes this season. Check out a portion of Howey’s appearance on Happy’s Place below.

Fans shouldn’t be surprised if more former Reba stars make appearances in season two of Happy’s Place as well. In fact, McEntire just confirmed that her former Reba co-star JoAnna Garcia Swisher will “definitely” be appearing on Happy’s Place soon.

“JoAnna is so busy. She’s producing, she’s got three movies and she’s [working on] Sweet Magnolias. So she is a very busy lady but she said she’d definitely be there,” McEntire told US Weekly this week.

McEntire Loves Reuniting With Reba Stars And Producers

McEntire went on to say that she couldn’t be more thrilled that her former Reba co-stars are taking the time to appear in her new sitcom.

“Melissa Peterman, JoAnna and Steve Howey have been very busy,” she explained. “To get to bring Steve in already for our Christmas episode and to bring Chris [Rich] back in — that was the most special.”

Behind the scenes, Reba producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel, and Mindy Schultheis are producing Happy’s Place alongside McEntire. Needless to say, there are quite a lot of familiar faces from Reba on the set of Happy’s Place!

Season 2 of Happy’s Place is set to premiere sometimes this fall. If you were a fan of Reba, be sure to check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
