Last month, we reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Now, insiders are claiming that Kidman is finding comfort in her fellow Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, 61, as her divorce continues. Indeed, Crowe has reportedly stepped in to be there for Kidman when she needs it most.
Crowe Has Been Kidman’s ‘Total Rock’
Sources close to Kidman are alleging that Crowe “has been a total rock” for the Moulin Rouge actress as she “picks up the pieces and rebuilds her life.”
“He has a tough exterior but he’s a real softie underneath,” one Kidman insider said of Crowe. “Ever since Nicole told him what was going on, he’s been on the phone to her nearly every day just to check in and lift her spirits.”
Crowe and Kidman are both native Australians, and they have known each other for decades. Crowe has also been through his own painful divorce. Back in 2018, Crowe split from his wife Danielle Spencer after 15 years of marriage.
“Russell has been through his own heartbreaking divorce,” the insider explained. “So he can empathize with Nicole in a way that not everyone in her world can.”
Kidman and Crowe have reportedly been meeting up for coffee various times throughout the last few weeks. Before fans get too excited, however, the insiders are insisting that there is nothing romantic between the pair. Instead, they are reportedly just close friends.
“They’re strictly friends,” the source emphasized. “He’s just very concerned about her because he knows her marriage was everything to her.”
“Nicole says he’s got such good advice,” the insider concluded. “She really values having a man’s perspective on things. He’s helped to steady her and she’s so grateful.”
Crowe Has No Plans To Marry Again
This comes weeks after Crowe spoke out in an interview to reveal why he will never get married again. Crowe has been dating his girlfriend Britney Theriot since 2020. Despite this, he has no plans to ever walk down the aisle with her or anyone else for that matter.
“All these reports keep coming out saying that Britney and I are engaged and I’m going to get married again,” Crowe told Australia’s 60 Minutes on November 2.
“No,” he added as he shot these reports down. “We are very, very good friends, and we have a wonderful relationship. My life is so joyous and happy at the moment — why ruin that with a wedding?”
It seems that Crowe’s divorce from Spencer was so difficult that he doesn’t want to risk it happening to him again.
“Why would I go through… I’ve been married once,” Crowe lamented. “I know how it can go and where it can go. So I don’t need to go to that place.”
“We’re very happy, man. It’s a very positive life,” the Gladiator star concluded. “But no, I’m not going to get married again. Doing it once is cool, great, you know. But I don’t want to do it again.”
Kidman’s Past Bitter Divorce
As for Kidman, she also knows a thing or two about difficult divorces. While this was Urban’s first and only marriage, Kidman was previously married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Their divorce was extremely bitter, which might explain why Kidman was so reluctant to divorce Urban.
