Earlier this month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” and that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.

Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 57. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”

Now, Kidman has broken her silence in the wake of this divorce filing by opening up about going through “devastating” times. Indeed, Kidman is indicating that she feels “broken” after this split.

‘I Will Get Through It…’

Less than two weeks after she filed for divorce, Kidman is discussing how age has given her the tools to get through the dark moments in life.

“The best part is the experiences that you’ve accumulated,” Kidman told Harper’s Bazaar. “You go, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to handle this now’ or ‘maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve experienced something similar to this, and I do know that I will get through it.’”

Though Kidman didn’t directly mention her split from Urban, she made it clear that it’s very much on her mind as she talked about the challenges of life.

“There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through,” Kidman continued. “You’re going to have to feel it. You’re not going to be able to numb it. You are going to have to feel it, and it’s going to feel insurmountable at times. You’re going to feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly — and it can take an enormous amount of time — it does pass.”

“My children [give me the] purpose of being their protector and their guide,” she added. “Promising them that I’m here and that, no matter what, there’s always a safe place to grow up in.”

Kidman and Urban are the parents of two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Days after filing for divorce, Kidman stepped out with their daughters in Paris, France. Check that out in the video below.

Kidman Cryptically References Split

Weeks before she filed for divorce, Kidman gave another interview in which she cryptically indicated that something in her personal life was not going well.

“How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going, and then it isn’t going in that direction?” she questioned while speaking to Vogue. Though that interview took place at the end of August, it was only just released last week.

Kidman and Urban met in 2005, and married the next year in 2006. Fans were shocked by their split, as they were long seen as one of the strongest couples in the entertainment world.

Those close to Kidman and Urban, however, weren’t surprised at all by the breakup. A source told People Magazine that the split “really hasn’t been a secret.” This insider added that Kidman and Urban have “been living separately for a while now.”

People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” the source explained.

Kidman ‘Didn’t Want This…’

This was Urban’s first and only marriage. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Their divorce was extremely bitter, which may explain why she was particularly so reluctant to split from Urban.

“She didn’t want this,” another source told People after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”

This is clearly a very difficult situation for everyone involved. While it’s sad that Kidman is being put through this, we’re glad that she is aware that she has the tools to overcome it and come out the other side.

Please join us in saying a prayer for both Kidman and Urban as they navigate this divorce!
