Earlier this month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 57. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Despite initially being devastated by this split, Kidman is now trying to stay “positive,” according to those close to her. Indeed, the actress is reportedly refusing to dwell on “regrets.”
‘Everything Happens For A Reason…’
An insider close to Kidman told People Magazine that the star is “keeping it positive” as she is “surrounded by the two things that matter the most to her: her family and her work.”
“[Kidman] isn’t someone who dwells on regrets,” the source explained. “She believes everything happens for a reason.”
“She has a great attitude and feels very grateful for her life,” the insider continued. The source added that Kidman has “several work projects coming up and is looking forward to them.”
Though she didn’t mention her split directly, Kidman appeared to elude to it in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through,” Kidman responded when asked about the best part of growing older. “You are going to have to feel it, and it’s going to feel insurmountable at times. You’re going to feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly — and it can take an enormous amount of time — it does pass.”
Kidman’s ‘Resentment’ Towards Urban
This comes after other insiders claimed that while Kidman is staying positive, she also feels “so much resentment” towards Urban.
“In so many respects Nicole is doing brilliantly,” a source close to Kidman told Star Magazine. “She’s been a total pro throughout this, and her number one goal is to stay strong and not crumble for the sake of her daughters, as well as herself.”
The insider went on to say that this is “easier said than done.”
“Keith was the love of her life, and it’s not that simple to just turn those feelings off like a tap,” the source continued. “She’s been on autopilot, cramming her schedule like crazy and sticking tight to friends who are longing to set her up for some fun once she gives the word.”
These insiders warned that while Kidman may seem like she’s holding it all together, “the dam has to burst at some point soon.”
“She has so much resentment and heartache that’s inevitably going to come to the surface,” the source concluded. “And when that happens it’s not going to be pretty.”
Kidman And Urban’s History
Kidman and Urban met back in 2005, and they married the next year in 2006. They went on to welcome two daughters together: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Sadly, Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.
This was Urban’s first and only marriage. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Their divorce was extremely bitter, which may explain why she was particularly so reluctant to split from Urban. Indeed, insiders have claimed that Kidman fought to save her marriage with everything she has.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Divorce is never easy, particularly after so many years together. Please join us in saying a prayer for Kidman and Urban as they navigate this challenging new chapter of their lives!
