Yesterday, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” as the split was allegedly Urban’s idea.
Hours later, however, Kidman officially filed for divorce from Urban. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.” Now, sources close to the former couple are alleging that this divorce has taken an extremely “dramatic” turn.
Kidman ‘Feels Betrayed’
“Their split is turning dramatic. Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed,” an insider told People Magazine. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on.”
A source close to Urban said that the country music star has “just been going through some stuff.” Meanwhile, a Kidman source claimed that Urban has “been making questionable choices for some time now,” and their split “was not the case of them just drifting apart.”
A third insider, however, alleged that for those close to Urban, “this has felt more like a gradual drift than some big shocking break.”
Another Urban source agreed, saying that the singer had become unhappy with the lack of intimacy in his marriage.
“The intimacy isn’t there, they are just going through the motions [of being married],” this insider told Daily Mail. “Keith had to call her out that he isn’t happy.”
Urban’s Alleged ‘New Girlfriend’
As for Urban’s alleged “new girlfriend,” rumor has it that she’s someone in the music industry.
“The rumor is that he’s with a younger woman in the business,” a Nashville music insider told Daily Mail. “It’s all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that’s a mystery.”
There is no confirmation as to who this alleged “younger woman” is. However, video has since gone viral showing Urban changing song lyrics that were inspired by Kidman to instead reference his new 25 year-old guitar player Maggie Baugh.
In a clip shared to Instagram by Baugh herself earlier this week, Urban can be seen changing lyrics to his song “The Fighter.” The original line was “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter. Instead, Urban sang “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player” by Urban.
Urban And Kidman’s History
Urban had never been married previously when he and Kidman tied the knot in 2006. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to the A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until they underwent a bitter divorce in 2001.
Urban and Kidman are parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. They’ve already agreed to a parenting plan that gives Kidman 306 days per year with the girls. As for Urban, he will get 59 days. The former couple has also agreed to a parenting schedule, and they will be making major decisions about their daughters together.
Kidman and Urban have reportedly been separated since June. Indeed, it was allegedly Urban who initiated the separation. Sources close to Kidman claim that she was “blindsided” when Urban did this.
“She didn’t want this,” an insider close to Kidman told People Magazine. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
