Earlier this week, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” and that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 57. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Now, a surprising update about how Kidman is doing has come in days after she was hit with this devastating heartbreak.
Kidman Is ‘Level-Headed And Calm’
A source close to the family is speaking out to claim that in the wake of filing for divorce, Kidman is firmly focused on the future. Indeed, it seems that Kidman is handling this heartbreak far better than it was initially thought that she was.
“She’s been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading it,” the insider told People Magazine.
“But she’s surprisingly level-headed and calm,” the source added. “Now that it’s out she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.”
Kidman Focused On ‘Holding The Family Together’
Kidman and Urban had been married since 2006. While this was Urban’s first and only marriage, it was Kidman’s second. Many will remember that she was previously married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until they underwent a bitter divorce in 2001. After that notoriously difficult breakup, it would be understandable if Kidman was hoping to avoid another divorce at all costs.
Kidman and Urban are parents to two teenage daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Since separating from Urban in June, Kidman has been caring for their daughters. Her focus has been on “holding the family together through this difficult time since Urban has been gone” on tour, according to the insider.
The former couple has already agreed to a parenting plan that gives Kidman 306 days per year with the girls. As for Urban, he will get 59 days. They will be making major decisions about their daughters together moving forward.
Kidman was reportedly “blindsided” when Urban asked for a separation back in June.
“She didn’t want this,” another insider close to Kidman told People. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
“Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed,” added a third source. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on.”
Urban’s Alleged ‘New Girlfriend’
As for Urban’s alleged “new girlfriend,” rumor has it that she’s a “younger woman” in the music industry.
“The rumor is that he’s with a younger woman in the business,” a Nashville music insider told Daily Mail. “It’s all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that’s a mystery.”
There is no confirmation as to who this alleged “younger woman” is. However, video has since gone viral showing Urban seemingly flirting onstage with his new 25 year-old guitar player Maggie Baugh. Check out that footage for yourself below.
