Earlier today, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. Insiders claimed that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” as the split was allegedly Urban’s idea.
In the hours since then, however, Kidman has officially filed for divorce from Urban amidst allegations that he’s already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Kidman Files For Divorce
Daily Mail has confirmed that Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban, 57, on Tuesday. In her filing, she cited “irreconcilable differences.”
Multiple sources close to Kidman told TMZ that “all the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman. Let’s just say, Nicole doesn’t dispute that, but she’s still shocked over it.”
“It’s all over Nashville,” one Kidman insider added.
None of the sources know the exact timing of when Urban allegedly began seeing this other woman. Indeed, it is not known if he met her before or after he and Kidman separated back in June. After their separation, Urban rented his own home in Nashville, where the couple have long resided with their two teenage daughters.
“Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” a source told TMZ. This insider went on to confirm that Kidman and Urban have been living apart “since the beginning of summer.”
Kidman ‘Didn’t Want This’
Meanwhile, Kidman has been focused on “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”
“She didn’t want this,” an insider close to Kidman told People Magazine. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
“Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” the source continued.
As for Urban, however, he appears to be done with the marriage.
“Keith never sees Nicole. Either she is filming or he is on tour,” a source close to the singer told The Mail.
Urban allegedly instigated the split after his “unhappiness” in the marriage caused him to “call her out.” Insiders say that Kidman was left “blindsided” by all of this.
“The intimacy isn’t there, they are just going through the motions [of being married],” the Urban source claimed. “Keith had to call her out that he isn’t happy.”
Kidman And Urban’s History
Urban had never been married previously when he and Kidman tied the knot in 2006. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to the A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until they underwent a bitter divorce in 2001. Given how notoriously difficult that experience was for her, we can understand why Kidman wouldn’t want to go through a divorce again.
Kidman appears to have felt that her marriage to Urban was going strong as recently as April of this year. That month, she told People Magazine that she feels “so lucky” to have met Urban.
“I’m so lucky that I have Keith who’s just my love, my deep, deep love,” she said at the time. “I’m so lucky that I have Keith… that gives me the ability to go and do whatever I have to do because I know where I can come back.”
