Last month, we reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.

Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”

Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time. Now, Kidman is speaking out to update fans on how she’s doing amidst this divorce.

Kidman Is ‘Hanging In There’

On Monday, Kidman interviewed the Wicked: For Good star Ariana Grande for Interview magazine. Grande, 32, kicked off their conversation by candidly asking Kidman, “how are you doing?”

“I’m hanging in there,” Kidman replied. This seemingly hinted at just how emotional this time in her life has been.

Kidman went on to recall feeling “safe” and “protected” while filming the Practical Magic sequel. Indeed, she made this film before news of the breakup was made public.

“Sandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie [Williams] — we had an incredible cast,” Kidman explained. “But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved. It was just very, very safe.”

Kidman concluded by gushing over what it was like to work with Bullock again nearly thirty years after they made the original Practical Magic.

“To come back to something so many years later and go, ‘We’re still able to get this movie made at a big big studio like Warner’s,’ and that Sandy and I were able to produce it and get it made, is insane,” Kidman stated.

Kidman Has ‘Been Stressed’

Kidman and Bullock spent the summer filming the Practical Magic sequel. Unbeknownst to fans, Kidman and Urban had already separated by then, as they secretly split in June. Kidman was reportedly dreading news of their split being made public.

“She’s been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading it,” a source told People Magazine early last month. “But she’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.”

This was a reference to Kidman and Urban’s two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Kidman’s Holiday Plans

An insider close to Kidman is claiming that for the sake of their daughters, Kidman is “willing” to spend Christmas with Urban.

“Nicole has some very big feelings about all of this. But she’s insisting she can put them to the side and compartmentalize to create some happy moments for the girls,” the source alleged. “They’ve been pretty well-glued to her side since this all started. And they aren’t going to want to be apart from her for the holidays. So her plan is to spend time as a family with Keith.”

The insider went on to say that even though Urban has “been very busy with his concerts and studio work,” Kidman still “doesn’t want to alienate him from their kids.”

“So she’s going to be the bigger person and help facilitate this,” the source concluded. “It’s always fallen on her shoulders in the past to coordinate everything for the holidays, and this is no different. As much as she’d love to just take the girls home to Australia, she’s saying she’s willing to spend the majority of the holidays in Nashville to accommodate Keith.”

Divorce is never easy, particularly when there are children involved. Please join us in saying a prayer for both Kidman and Urban as they navigate this challenging new chapter of their lives!
