Earlier this month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Now, insiders close to Kidman are speaking out to reveal what the “hardest part” of this split has been for her.
‘The Hardest Part…’
While Kidman is in a “good headspace” one month after filing for divorce, she has still faced some challenges during this difficult time.
“The hardest part is navigating the dynamic with their daughters,” an insider close to Kidman told US Weekly. This is a reference to Kidman and Urban’s two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
“The last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family,” the source continued. The insider added that Kidman has “raised her daughters to be strong and is leading by example for them.”
As Kidman navigates her new life as a single mother, she reportedly plans to “focus on creating new traditions with her daughters and keeping their home life as steady and loving as possible.”
The source went on to say that Kidman has been staying “very busy.” Indeed, according to the insider, Kidman’s work “helps her push forward.”
The insider then said that overall, Kidman has been in a “good headspace and has been very positive.”
“She is pushing forward in a good way,” the source stated of Kidman. “She isn’t necessarily trying to find her new normal throughout all of this, because they had been quietly separated for a while now.”
The insider concluded by saying that “this next chapter feels more like a transition than a shock” for Kidman.
Kidman ‘Is Devastated’
Earlier this month, another inside said that Kidman “had faith they could work it out” after being “quietly separated for a while.”
“This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated,” the source lamented. “Her trust was lost, and it was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”
Urban and Kidman met back in 2005, and they married the next year in 2006. Sadly, Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.
This was Urban’s first and only marriage. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Their divorce was extremely bitter, which may explain why she was particularly so reluctant to split from Urban. Indeed, insiders have claimed that Kidman fought to save her marriage with everything she has.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
The insider who is close to Kidman has confirmed that she was indeed caught off guard by the split. According to this source, Kidman believed right up until the news of the breakup broke that she and Urban were working out their marital issues.
