Country music star Morgan Wallen is reportedly having a difficult time getting his legal team to successfully reach a plea agreement in his felony trial that would avoid jail time.

In an exclusive report from Life & Style, a source close to the “Whiskey Glasses” singer indicates the fear of spending time behind bars is palpable.

The problem stems from Wallen facing six years after being charged with three felony counts for throwing a chair off a bar roof earlier this year.

Getting prosecutors to just drop jail time altogether for such serious charges is a tall task. Especially when those prosecutors don’t want to be viewed as giving a celebrity preferential treatment.

And thus, a conundrum has arisen.

“Morgan’s lawyers have tried to strike a deal where he’d receive probation,” the source tells L&S. “But it’s looking bleak at this point. He’s likely to spend time behind bars.”

Morgan Wallen Heading To Jail? For How Long?

While Morgan Wallen and his legal team were able to successfully push back the trial date to allow him to keep his tour schedule, as reported by The Mix, a stint in prison almost sounds inevitable according to this report.

It might not be for six years based on the charges he’s facing. But it’s not exactly something to sneeze at either.

One or two months, the source seems to think.

“Morgan is being told the best scenario is a 30- to 60-day sentence,” they said. “I don’t think the prosecutors want him to skate away with no time because people will think it’s because of his celebrity status.”

That’s the best-case scenario. Other reports have suggested the jail time they might agree to could be up to six months.

He Let The Liquor Talk

It isn’t just the jail time itself that is the problem here. Morgan Wallen, depending on the way any plea deal pans out, would have a felony conviction on his record.

And that, as the source indicates, would have a negative impact on his career.

“If Morgan has a felony conviction, it’s going to make it hard for him to get work visas to tour internationally!” they said.

That’s something Morgan’s fellow country star and convicted felon Jelly Roll has had to deal with.

Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s bar in Nashville back in April.

Unfortunately for him, the alcohol-aided rage move led to the chair landing next to two Metro Nashville Police Department officers.

Witnesses told WKRN that they saw Wallen “pick up the chair, throw it over him, laughing afterward.”

He won’t be laughing in prison. Maybe he’ll record a Johnny Cash-esque album while serving time though? That would be a chart-topper for sure.
