The country music star Morgan Wallen shattered yet another record this past week. Making this even more impressive is the fact that this record had been previously held by the Jackson 5!

Wallen Breaks The Jackson 5’s Record

On Friday and Sunday nights, Wallen performed two sold-out concerts at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. These shows set a new record for the largest concert weekend at the venue. The previous record being held by the Jackon 5 for over 40 years.

A total of 156,161 people attended Wallen’s two Neyland Stadium two shows. The previous record had been held by the Jackson 5 across three shows in 1984.

For Wallen’s concerts, he brought out guests that included Miranda Lambert, HARDY, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, and ERNEST.

“When me and the boys first started playing shows, we started out playing bars, real small venues,” Wallen, 31, told fans at one of the concerts. “Worked our way up to places like Cotton Eyed Joe.”

“Then we worked our way up to clubs, theaters, arenas and amphitheaters – we pretty much played any kind of venue there is, and all of a sudden you guys went and sold out Neyland today,” he added. “Thank you.”

Wallen’s University Of Tennessee Entrances

During each of the shows, Wallen made a point of honoring sports stars from the University of Tennessee. For Friday’s show, he walked out with the 2024 National Champion Tennessee Volunteers baseball team and Coach Tony Vitello.

Then on Sunday’s show, Wallen walked out with Peyton Manning in his retired college uniform, head football coach Josh Heupel, quarterback Nico Iamaleava, and wide receiver Bru McCoy.

Wallen’s Big Donation

Prior to these concerts, Wallen stepped up to donate $140,000 to Gibbs Youth Sports, a foundation run by Wallen’s mother Leslie. The donation was announced on Thursday during a press conference that was attended by Leslie and the foundation’s executive director Kathleen Flaherty.

“This is a special weekend for me to be able to to come back on the play Neyland and I just want to say thank you to everybody in in Knoxville for their support over the years and to celebrate that I wanted to give a donation of my foundation to the Gibbs Youth Sports,” Wallen said in a video that was played during the event.

“And we’re going to do a renovation of the Gibbs Ruritan Park,” he continued. “We’re going to be doing a lot of work there, but basically, the overall gist of it is they’re going to make the the park usable all year round for the kids there.”

‘I’d Like To Thank God…’

Nate Stacy, the president of Gibbs Youth Sports, could not have been more grateful for Wallen’s support.

“I’d like to thank God first for bringing Miss Wallen, and the Morgan Wallen Foundation into our lives, because without them, we wouldn’t be here,” Stacy gushed. “Miss Wallen, Kathleen. Our conversations they were two weeks apart, but they were always so deep in what they could do to to benefit our organization and how Morgan might be able to help us.”

“I can’t thank Mr. Wallen for what he’s doing, remembering who he is, what it was like to play youth baseball and recreational set or travel ball set,” he added.

Not only is Wallen an incredible talent, he’s also one of the most humble stars out there today. We applaud him for breaking the Jackson 5’s record, and we wish him many years of success to come!
