Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling that Barack and Michelle Obama are divorcing. Indeed, rumor has it that the two of them have been living “separate lives” for quite some time.
Now, Michelle’s own brother Craig Robinson has added credence to these rumors in a big way. He did so by revealing that he warned his sister about Barack way back when she first started dating him.
Craig’s Misgivings About Barack
Last month, Michelle launched a podcast with her older brother Craig Robinson. On their latest episode, they talked about dating. That’s when Craig launched into a surprising story about Michelle and Barack from their early days of dating prior to their 1992 marriage.
“And I’ve told this story many times about when you first started dating Barack,” Craig began. “So Mich starts to date Barack, and we don’t know who this guy is, we’re just like, ‘Barack? Who’s got a name like Barack?’ And I’m thinking it’s gonna last a month like most of your relationships.”
Michelle was quick to object to this in a small way, saying, “That’s not true. I’ve had many a long-term boyfriends.”
“I wouldn’t call those guys boyfriends,” Craig fired back with a laugh.
Craig went on to recall when he first met Barack with his and Michelle’s late mother Marian Robinson.
“I remember mom’s first thing was, ‘Ooo at least he’s tall.’ Because Mich was usually posting up her other boyfriends,” Craig recounted. “And I said to myself, ‘Well, it’s too bad it’s not gonna last.’”
Craig reportedly communicated his misgivings about the relationship to Michelle in the form of a warning, but she pushed through with it anyway.

Craig Plays Basketball With Barack
“But the best part of it was, after we met him and she had been dating him for a little while she said, ‘Would you mind Craig, taking him to play?'” Craig continued, referring to Michelle asking him to take Barack to play basketball. “And at first I said, ‘No way, I’m not going to do your ditry work for you. If he turns out to be a bad dude, I’m not going to be the one to say.'”
Luckily for Barack, he could truly hold his own on the basketball court.
“Obviously we had a great time playing,” Craig concluded. “This is what I learned. Aside from the fact that he is tremendously left-handed so he couldn’t go right at all, most importantly, he was a team player, right? He fit in with the people. So I was able to report back to you that everything was fine and the rest was history.”

Obama Divorce Rumors
Despite the sweet ending to this story, Michelle and Barack have been plagued by divorce rumors for months.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast back in January. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”
“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she added.
“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Palmeri, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

Michelle has tried to shoot down rumors that she’s divorcing Barack. However, it certainly doesn’t bode well for the status of their relationship that her brother would choose now to tell this story on their podcast. Only time will tell if the Obamas actually end up staying together!
