Over the past year, rumors have been swirling that Barack and Michelle Obama are heading for divorce. According to these rumors, Barack and Michelle have been living “separate lives” for quite some time.

Now, Michelle is speaking out to say that she would like to go on the reality show The Traitors. This comes as her divorce rumors continue to spread like wildfire.

Michelle Wants To Do The Traitors

While appearing on the Lemme Say This podcast earlier this week, Michelle opened up about how much she loves unscripted reality shows. When asked which reality TV show that she’d want to go on, Michelle bluntly replied, “In my opinion, I could not be a Real Housewife.”

Michelle, 62, went on to surprisingly say that she’d much rather compete on Peacock’s murdermystery sensation The Traitors.

“I would want to be on Traitors, and I would want to be a Faithful,” Michelle eagerly declared. “And I would want to find the traitor.”

The official synopsis for The Traitors states that it is a show in which “contestants in the game move into a majestic castle and work as a team to complete a series of dramatic and challenging missions to earn money for the prize pot. Some contestants are loyal–but some are traitors.”

Michelle Wants To Do Reunion Shows

In this same interview, Michelle said that if she were ever to do a reality show, she would mainly just want to show up when the cast gathers at the very end to settle old scores.

“If I’m going to be there, I’d want to be there for the reunions only,” Michelle quipped, adding that she always has tons of questions for the cast.

“It’s like, why are we always here? Why can’t we work this stuff out?” Michelle questioned. “Come on now, we’re grown.”

This caught the attention of Andy Cohen, who moderates the reunions for The Traitors. He has also been moderating reunions for The Real Housewives franchise and other reality shows for nearly 20 years.

“Let me make it clear that Mrs. Obama, my ‘Forever FLOTUS’, has an open invitation to ANY reunion she would like to attend!” Cohen said.

Michelle Loves Reality TV

Michelle previously admitted on her IMO podcast that she’s actually a huge reality TV fan.

“The truth is that they razz me about my love of reality TV and the Real Housewives. I watch it all — all of it,” Michelle confessed in August of last year.

Michelle proceeded to explain that she views the entire genre of reality TV as being a fascinating “sociological study” that perfectly mirrors professional sports.

“There’s drama in sports,” the former First Lady insisted. “If I listen to ESPN for an hour, it’s like watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta. You know? It’s the same drama, and they’re yelling at each other, and they don’t get along.”

Michelle finds if interesting that grown adults can continue to repeat the same arguments year after year.

“Why do you keep going to dinner together? It never ends well,” she concluded.

Obama Divorce Rumors

Perhaps Michelle has turned to reality TV to distract herself from the alleged drama in her own life. Indeed, this comes at a difficult time for both Michelle and her husband Barack Obama, 64, as they have been plagued by rampant divorce rumors for over a year.

These divorce rumors escalated in a big way back in January of last year, when Michelle skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. She was the only living former First Lady to miss each of these events. This forced Barack to attend both events alone.

“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast in 2025. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”

“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she continued.

“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

Michelle Accused Of ‘Really Disliking’ Barack

Michelle launched her IMO podcast back in March of last year. Since then, Michelle has used it to bash Barack and air his dirty laundry seemingly every chance she gets.

In fact, Michelle has complained about Barack so many times on her podcast that the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has claimed that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband, and it’s super obvious.”

“I’m not just saying that to be catty,” Tucker explained. “I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”

Tucker’s fellow former Fox News host Megyn Kelly was quick to agree. She pointed out that “everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.”

“I almost never say negative things about Doug,” Megyn added, referring to her own husband Doug Brunt. “He’s not perfect but when I think about him, I don’t immediately go to whatever is negative. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”

The Obamas Respond

Back in July of last year, Barack appeared on Michelle’s IMO podcast. There, they desperately tried to shoot down the escalating divorce rumors.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” Michelle claimed. “And we’ve had some really hard times. So we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

“These are the kinds of things that I just miss, right?” Barack chimed in to add. “So I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me and I’m all like, ‘what are you talking about?'”

Unfortunately for the Obamas, however, many are still not buying their claims that their marriage is still going strong.

Perhaps Michelle should focus a little less on reality TV, and a little more on saving her marriage. Only time will tell if the Obama marriage will actually survive.
