Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling that Barack and Michelle Obama are heading for divorce. These claims allege that Barack and Michelle have been living “separate lives” for quite some time.
Now, Michelle is speaking out to reveal the repeated “battle” that she’s had with Barack that has left him feeling “scared.”
Michelle’s Repeated ‘Battle’ With Barack
On Tuesday, Michelle, 61, sat down with the former Saturday Night Live! star Amy Poelher,” 53, for her podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler. There, Michelle revealed that she and Barack, 63, have different preferences for sleep temperatures. This has led to them fighting over the course of their 33 year marriage.
“Sometimes I get into bed freezing, and other times I feel like I need to take my skin off,” Michelle said.
“It’s a battle with a partner because he’s always cold and I’m like, ‘Do not touch [the thermostat],'” she continued. “Sometimes I wake up hot and I’ll wake him up [to ask], ‘Did you touch the thermostat? You touched it, didn’t you?’”
Michelle went on to say that Barack is so “scared of the thermostat” that he will reply, “I didn’t, I swear.”
Michelle strongly prefers “cool sheets” and a 68-degree bedroom. When her “night owl” husband complains about this, she tells him to “just put on some socks” since “he’s freezing” at night.
Oof. That doesn’t sound like the healthiest and happiest of marriages, now does it?!

Michelle’s ‘Deal’ With Barack
In this same interview, Michelle revealed the bizarre “deal” that she made in their marriage years ago.
“We have a deal, Barack and I, in our marriage,” Michelle explained. “It started very early and it’s like ‘I can tease you but you cannot tease me.’”
“So when he does, I’m like ‘Oh oh oh, wait a minute, what’s going on here?’ … but when me, [daughters] Malia and Sasha are all of us together, he doesn’t stand a chance,” she added. “We mercilessly go after him. Teasing is our love language and I tell him that. I say ‘When I tease you, it’s like a love tap.'”
Obama Divorce Rumors
Once again, that won’t dispel the divorce rumors that have been plaguing the Obamas as of late!
Indeed, rumors have been swirling for months that she’s divorcing Barack. These rumors escalated back in January, when Michelle skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. Indeed, she was the only living former First Lady to miss both of these events.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast back in January. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”
“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she added.
“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”
