Yesterday, we reported that the former All In The Family star Rob Reiner was found dead along with his wife Michelle on Sunday. They were allegedly murdered by their own son Nick, who has since been arrested.
On Monday night, the former First Lady Michelle Obama was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel. During his late night show, she revealed that she and Barack were supposed to see the Reiners on the night that they were murdered.
Michelle Speaks Out
“We’ve known them for many, many years. And we were supposed to be seeing them that night, last night,” Michelle said of herself and Barack.
“Let me just say this, unlike some people: Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know,” she continued. “They’re not deranged or crazed. What they have always been are passionate people. In a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on, they were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about. And they cared about their family. And they cared about this country.”
This was seemingly a reference to comments made about the Reiners by President Donald Trump.
On Monday morning, Trump took to his Truth Social media platform to say that Rob was “a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
Reiner Murders
Rob, 78, and Michelle, 68, were found dead by their daughter Romy, 28, at around 3:30pm on Sunday. She discovered their bodies in their $13.5 million Los Angeles mansion. Police told Daily Mail that they were stabbed to death, with their throats being slit. Their son Nick, 32, was arrested for their murders around six hours later.
Nick had long been open about his struggles with addiction. Michelle had reportedly anguished to friends over the past few months about the escalating problems that Nick was having. She allegedly didn’t know what else to do to help him. Indeed, Michelle reportedly told friends that “we’ve tried everything,” according to sources that spoke to TMZ.
Insiders have said that Rob and Nick were seen having a “very loud argument” the night before the murders at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O’Brien.
“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” an insider told People Magazine.
Rob and Michelle reportedly left the party after the altercation. They were found dead the next day.
Barack Honors The Reiners
After their deaths, Barack took to social media to honor both Rob and Michelle.
“Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele,” Barack wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen.”
“But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action,” he added. “Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.”
Please join us in saying a prayer for the Reiner family as they continue to grieve these unimaginable losses.
