Yesterday, we reported that the former First Lady Michelle Obama was left humiliated when UFC fighter Josh Hokit insisted that she “is a man” during his post-fight interview after his White House UFC match on Sunday. Now, Michelle has broken her silence for the first time in the wake of Hokit’s comments.
UFC’s Hokit Rips Into Michelle
After defeating Derrick Lewis in the second round, Hokit was interviewed in the Octagon by Joe Rogan. He’d just returned the cage after leaving momentarily to give a necklace to President Donald Trump, who was watching from the sidelines.
“Shout out to Trump for having the [expletive] to put this [expletive] on,” Hokit said in his interview. “If I’m going to say anything, there’s only more person more incredible than the incredible hulk, and that’s my lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”
“Now listen, Alex Pereira, I want to shama (sic) on your mama,” he added.
Hokit proceeded to end the interview by hurling a slur at Michelle.
“And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” Hokit insisted.
Ouch, that has got to sting for Michelle!

Michelle Breaks Her Silence
As soon as those words came out of Hokit’s mouth, a firestorm erupted on social media. Liberals immediately leapt to Michelle’s defense, and even some conservatives expressed their misgivings that Hokit had gone too far. Meanwhile, other conservatives defended Hokit and his right to speak his mind.
Throughout all of this, the silence from Michelle was deafening. Indeed, it wasn’t until Monday that Michelle finally broke her silence for the first time in the wake of this incident.
However, Michelle did not address Hokit’s remarks when she reemerged on social media yesterday. Instead, she spoke out to honor Njideka Akunyili Crosby, who painted the official portrait of her and former President Barack Obama for the Obama Presidential Center.
“Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through, and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!” Michelle wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known on Twitter.
Michelle Doubles Down
Michelle wrote this alongside a video of herself and Barack with Crosby. In the video, Michelle can be seen discussing Crosby’s artwork with Barack.
Crosby’s portrait of the Obamas is actually a mosaic that shows different moments from Barack and Michelle’s lives and career.
“It’s us! And all of the stories within the story,” Michelle exclaimed as she viewed the portrait. “Oh my god, you got everything in there!”

Many social media users were eagerly anticipating a direct response from the Obamas to Hokit, given how below the belt he (literally) went.
Though she’s violated it many times in the past, perhaps Michelle is trying to stick with her “when they go low, we go high” mantra on this one. In doing that, maybe she thinks it’ll simply go away.
We’ll see how that works out for Michelle…
