Meghan Markle’s Father Wants To Move Overseas Amid Split With His Daughter - ‘Ready For A Change’

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas has announced that he’s ready to pull his stakes and move overseas. He’s doing this in the hopes of escaping the “awful drama” that stems from his fraught relationship with his daughter, the Duchess of Sussex.

Thomas Wants To Move Overseas

Thomas, 80, currently lives on a property located near the U.S. border in Rosarito, Mexico. However, he has just revealed that he is looking to move overseas in an attempt to make a “fresh start” for himself.

“I am ready for a change,” Thomas told Daily Mail. “I have felt stuck in a rut for some time and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness.”

While Thomas doesn’t know exactly where he’ll settle, he is interested in possibly making somewhere in southeast Asia his new home.

‘I travelled in that part of the world when I was a younger man. The people are so kind and welcoming, and they are respectful to older people,’ he said. “It is a place of culture and beauty.’

“I don’t know where I’ll end up but it is time to move on and find a place where I can live among kind people and enjoy the time I have left,” he added. “At 80 it is time to go somewhere where the people are lovely and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier existence.”

“Mostly I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left. I want whatever time I have to be peaceful with none of the awful drama of recent years.”

Thomas And Meghan’s Estrangement

Thomas and Meghan have been estranged since just before she married Prince Harry in 2018. He has never met Harry, nor has he met his grandchildren Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

Thomas has begged to be able at least meet Archie and Lilibet for years. Sadly, his pleas have fallen on deaf ears. In fact, Meghan has continued to ignore her father even after he suffered a devastating stroke in 2022.

“I’ve never been one for birthdays, but I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won’t be in touch,” Thomas told The Mail just before he turned 80 in July of 2024. “I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage.”

“They have two grandpas who want to see them, one of whom is the King of England,” he continued. “I never in my 80 years thought I’d be in the same boat as the king.”

Thomas Takes Dig At Harry

Thomas went on to take a shot at Harry by questioning why he”s made no effort to meet him despite having “the resources to fly around the world.”

“What man gets married without meeting his wife’s father?” he questioned.

Thomas is a retired TV lighting director who provided for Meghan throughout her childhood. He sent her to private schools, and used his connections in Hollywood to help her get jobs when she was trying to make it as an actress. It’s unfortunate that since marrying into the British royal family, Meghan has seemingly abandoned him.

We can only hope that Thomas is able to find the right place where he can spend his twilight years. After all that Thomas has been through, he deserves some peace!
