Yesterday, we reported on rumors that Meghan Markle is preparing to “walk away” from her husband Prince Harry. This comes as Harry is allegedly considering moving back to the United Kingdom and reconcile with the royal family.
Now, insiders are claiming that Meghan has banned Harry from touching her in public after he “humiliated” her at a charity gala.
Meghan Hits Harry With Alleged Ban
Earlier this month, Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, attended the Healthy Minds World Mental Health Day Gala in New York City. There, they were honored as Humanitarians of the Year for their work through the Archewell Foundation.
On the red carpet for the event, however, things took an awkward turn when Harry was seen patting Meghan’s bottom. Insiders are claiming that this simple show of affection left Meghan feeling “deeply embarrassed.”
“Meghan was absolutely humiliated,” a source close to the couple told Radar Online. “She’s very conscious of how every detail is picked apart, and that moment made her feel like a spectacle. She told Harry afterward that there’s a time and place for affection – and the red carpet isn’t it. She’s made it clear that public displays like that are off-limits from now on.”
Another insider confirmed that Meghan saw this as a “silly, thoughtless gesture” that overshadowed their philanthropic work.
“Meghan puts a lot of effort into how they’re perceived at these events,” this source claimed. “Everything from the styling to the speeches is planned with precision. So when Harry did that, she felt it undermined all the professionalism she was trying to project. She doesn’t want to come across as the giggling plus-one. She’s trying to build her credibility as a serious figure in philanthropy and business.”
“[Meghan] told friends she loves Harry’s spontaneity but that he needs to read the room,” added another friend. “She doesn’t want to embarrass him, but she also won’t have him turning a serious occasion into tabloid fodder.”
‘Meghan’s Laid Down Some Ground Rules’
A source close to Meghan and Harry’s PR team made similar comments.
“There’s been a real effort to polish their public image and keep things measured,” that insider stated. “Meghan’s laid down some ground rules – she’s fine with affection, but not when it risks becoming the headline. Harry means well, but she’s determined to keep things professional, especially when cameras are rolling.”
A final insider spoke out to say that these days, Meghan is keeping Harry on a “tighter leash than ever.”
“Meghan is ultra-protective of their reputation,” that source concluded. “After the charity gala, she’s made it clear – no more hands on her butt when the world can see!”
Meghan ‘Feels Like She’s Losing’ Harry
This comes amidst reports that Meghan and Harry’s marriage could be in serious trouble as he allegedly tries to reconcile with his family. His efforts haven’t sat well with Meghan, who is allegedly “extremely upset” by the thought of ever returning to the U.K. again.
Last month, a source close to Meghan claimed to Radar Online that the former Suits star’s “biggest worry is that he’s been lured back in by the royals again and that they could drive a wedge between them.”
“She feels like she’s losing him,” this source added.
Meghan allegedly banning Harry from touching her in public certainly doesn’t bode well for the future of their marriage. Only time will tell if they actually end up staying together!
