We previously reported on rumors that Meghan Markle is preparing to “walk away” from her husband Prince Harry. This comes as Harry is allegedly considering moving back to the United Kingdom and reconcile with the royal family.
Now, insiders are claiming that Meghan is desperately trying to distance herself from Harry. Indeed, this certainly doesn’t bode well for the future of their marriage.
Meghan Distances Herself From Harry
Over the past few weeks, Meghan, 44, has been spotted making various public appearances without Harry, 41. Early in October, Meghan was spotted at Paris Fashion Week. There, she sat in the front row at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway show.
“Meghan was excited [for her] Paris Fashion Week debut,” an insider told US Weekly. “She was looking forward to the moment. It’s a big statement about where she’s headed.”
Days later, Meghan was seen having drinks with Chloe Malle, the new editor in chief of Vogue, in New York City. Two weeks ago, Meghan also spoke at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit.
“Meghan didn’t want to just stay [put] in Montecito, and now has more time to do other things,” said a second insider. “She wants to get out there, reach out to people and work on her relationships.”
It turns out that this is allegedly all part of a carefully orchestrated plan to establish Meghan as a power player who is completely separate from her husband Harry.
“This is the first time we’re seeing Meghan as an individual brand again,” explained public relations expert Jane Owen. “It’s a shift toward individuality.”
“Meghan is no longer half of a royal duo,” added PR expert Mark Borkowski. “She’s re-emerging as a solo brand: global, aspirational and strategically aloof. The royal chapter was about proximity to power. This one’s about reclaiming it.”
Harry Allegedly Supports This
This has signaled to many that trouble may be brewing between Meghan and Harry. However, these experts believe that Harry is actually fine with letting Meghan do her own thing.
“He seems happier doing the quieter, cause-driven work,” says Owen. “They’re still a team, but they’re playing to their own strengths now.”
Royal commentator Amanda Motta chimed in to say, “It’s clear that [Meghan’s career] is moving forward with a sharper public profile [but] they both know how to share the spotlight when it serves their shared goals.”
The insiders were quick to agree with these assessments.
“He always thinks she’s making the right moves,” said the second insider. The first source then claimed that Harry is thrilled that Meghan has found “something she can sink her teeth into. It’s what she successfully did before him, and he believes in the saying, ‘Happy wife, happy life.’ He’s happy not to be involved in that world.”
While Meghan appears to be more focused on fashion and entertainment these days, Harry still prefers philanthropy.
“He thrives when he’s [working] with charities, especially the military and kids,” stated royal historian Marlene Koenig. “And he has every reason to be proud of the Invictus [Games’] success. This is where he shines… the reality is this is an extension of what he did as a working royal and the life he knows.”
Rumors Of Meghan And Harry’s Marriage Troubles
Despite what these experts and insiders had to say, however, rumors have been swirling that all is not well in Meghan and Harry’s marriage. Last month, Harry reunited with his father King Charles, seeing him in person for the first time in 19 months during a visit to the United Kingdom. It’s been reported that Harry is hoping to reconcile with the royals and potentially return to the U.K.
This hasn’t sat well with Meghan. Indeed, she is “extremely upset” by the thought of ever returning to the U.K. again.
Last month, a source close to Meghan claimed to Radar Online that the former Suits star’s “biggest worry is that he’s been lured back in by the royals again and that they could drive a wedge between them.”
“She feels like she’s losing him,” this source continued.
Perhaps Meghan is trying to distance herself from Harry now just in case they end up splitting, and she soon finds herself a single woman. Indeed, Meghan seems like the type of person who always has a backup plan. Should Harry pick up and move back to his native U.K., Meghan may want to have all of her bases covered and ensure that she still has her own solo career to fall back on in the states.
Only time will tell if Meghan and Harry’s marriage actually survives. It will certainly be interesting to see where they go from here!
