Before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan Markle was an actress who starred on the cable drama Suits from 2011 until her wedding.
Now, Suits creator Aaron Korsh is letting it be known that Meghan has an “open invitation” to reprise her role as Rachel Zane on the new Suits spinoff Suits LA whenever she pleases.
Meghan’s ‘Open Invitation’
One of the many critiques leveled at Markle is that she seems to be chasing fame. Now, she will have another chance!
“So, look, to me, we have thought about whether it be Meghan or any of the other cast members coming on and playing themselves as an actor,” Korsh, 58, told People Magazine. “I think for me that’s a little … My brain blows up at the thought of that.
“So I think it blows up the world too much,” he continued. “Obviously, if Meghan wants to come back under any circumstances, Meghan can come back.”
When asked if Meghan has an “open invitation” to join the cast of Suits LA, Korsh was quick to reply, “Of course. Of course. Always. But I think realistically, it would be too much of an explosion of the fourth wall to do that. Yeah.”
While that may be true, “meta humor” is all the rage nowadays.
Watch Korsh talk more about this in the video below.
Suits LA premiered on Sunday night on NBC with an all new cast. This came after the original series, which was set in New York but filmed in Canada, saw a resurgence in popularity on Netflix.

Meghan’s History With Suits
Meghan played paralegal Rachel Zane in 108 episodes of the original series from 2011 until 2018. The show went off the air the next year in 2019. When Meghan chose to leave Suits to marry Harry, Rachel was written off the show. Korsh had Rachel move to Seattle after marrying onscreen boyfriend Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams.
In 2017, Korsh told The BBC that he was taking a “gamble” when he wrote this storyline months before Harry proposed to Meghan.
“I knew from a year ago that this relationship was burgeoning,” Korsh explained at the time. “And I had a decision to make because I didn’t want to intrude and ask her, ‘Hey what’s going on and what are you going to do?’ “
“So collectively with the writers, we decided to take a gamble that these two people were in love and it was going to work out,” he added of Meghan and Harry.

Meghan Had No Regrets About Leaving Suits
Meghan made it clear that she had no regrets about leaving Suits.
“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change,” Meghan said during her first joint interview with Harry in November of 2017. “It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on [Suits] for seven years. We were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series.”
“I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team,” she continued.
Meghan and Harry went on to shock the world when they stepped down as senior royals in 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.
Though Meghan hasn’t publicly expressed an interest in returning to acting, she’s struggled with the various ventures that she’s tried over the past few years. In the end, perhaps it’s time for Meghan to go back to her roots and give acting one more shot!
