The Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg ran into an awful bit of luck when his new Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada caught on fire the night before its ribbon-cutting ceremony was set to take place.
Fire At Flecha Cantina
A spokesperson for Flecha Cantina told People Magazine that a fire started on November 6 after “a defective fire pit caught fire on the bottom of it.”
Thankfully, the damage was limited and didn’t harm the main building.
“The fire crew came and put it out right away,” the spokesperson said. “No damage at all in the interior restaurant. The only damage was the fire pit and the chair next to it. Thankfully no one was injured.”
Video of the fire quickly went viral on social media.
The Clark County Fire Department was called at around 5:30pm about a fire that had spread to the patio of the restaurant. When firefighters got to the scene, sprinklers were already activated and the restaurant had been evacuated.
The fire never reached the interior of the building, and surveillance footage later confirmed that the fire started from the inner workings of the fire table itself.
Firefighters were successfully able to get the fire to go down enough that the propane tanks that were fueling the fire table could be shut off. The Flecha spokesperson stated that “the fire sprinkler company came back out and recharged the system and the restaurant was back open at 7pm.”

Wahlberg’s Flecha Restaurants
This fire happened just one day before Wahlberg, 53, was expected to celebrate a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 7. This date was three weeks after the restaurant opened on September 14. Flecha is described as “a fusion of traditional Mexican flavors with innovative twists.” Flecha’s doors still opened at 7pm the day after the fire.
Wahlberg previously opened a Flecha restaurant in Huntington Beach, California on June 8.
“I want them to have the most amazing experience they’ve ever had in a restaurant. I want them to feel like they’re at home, that they are doted on and spoiled,” Wahlberg told Fox Business at the time.
“I’ve sent a lot of people in unannounced to really kind of see what the experience is like,” he continued. “I have an amazing staff, amazing team. And we are a family, we want to share our family experience, and that really translates. So come in, have an amazing experience with the food, the hospitality, drinks, just having fun. It’s an experience that you want to have over and over again.”

Wahlberg Moves To Las Vegas
Meanwhile, Wahlberg moved to Las Vegas back in 2022 with his wife Rhea Durham and their four children.
“It’s a place where my kids can thrive and do their thing and pursue their interests,” Wahlberg said of the move back in March. “To be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us.”
Wahlberg has managed to maintain his acting career despite this move. Indeed, he explained that he “only made a couple of movies in the entire time” that he lived in California.
We’re glad to see that nobody was injured in the fire at Wahlberg’s restaurant. Here’s hoping that this is the only time an incident like this one occurs there!
