Earlier this month, we reported that the former Full House star Lori Loughlin has separated from her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli after 28 years of marriage. Now, insiders are claiming that Loughlin feels “betrayed” by Giannulli as their divorce battle escalates.
College Admissions Scandal Destroys Loughlin’s Marriage
A source close to the former couple told People Magazine that the last few years “put a strain on their marriage.”
“Things have never been the same” after Loughlin, 61, and Giannulli, 62, “weathered the college admission fallout and the prison sentences together,” the insider claimed.
This was a reference to Loughlin and Giannulli’s infamous college admissions scandal. They made headlines back in 2019 when they were indicted for allegedly paying $500,000 to have their daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli’s admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team. They did this despite the fact that neither daughter had ever taken part in crew.
Though they initially fought the allegations against them, they finally gave in after a media firestorm that lasted for month. In May of 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud.
Loughlin was ultimately sentenced to two months in prison, serving out her sentence from October to December of 2020. Meanwhile, Giannulli was sentenced to five months behind bars. He began his sentence in November of 2020 and was released to home confinement in April of 2021.
Loughlin ‘Feels Betrayed’
The latest insider later confirmed that Loughin and Giannlulli are “living apart and moving on with separate priorities.”
“Lori feels betrayed,” the source continued. “It’s not a happy situation for her. They’re in very different places right now and it’s unlikely that they’ll find their way back together.”
Another insider close to the family has talked about how daughters Isabella, 27, and Olivia, 26, are coping with their parents’ split.
“There’s no drama or resentment,” this source said. “They’ve seen how hard their mom and dad have tried over the years, and they’re focused on keeping things peaceful and staying close as a family.”
The insider then said that the split has “obviously been tough, but Olivia and Bella aren’t taking sides.”
“They both love their parents and just want them to be happy,” the source concluded. “At the end of the day, they just want everyone to be okay.”
John Stamos Torches Giannulli
This comes after Loughlin’s former Full House co-star John Stamos, who played her husband on the sitcom, spoke out to blast Giannulli. Indeed, he held nothing back while asked about the divorce on the Good Guys podcast on Monday.
When host Ben Soffer said that he’s heard that Giannulli is “supposedly not a very good guy” and may have been unfaithful, Stamos replied: “I’m taking the Fifth on that, but whatever he did busted her up to the core.”
“She put up with a lot over the years with this guy,” Stamos said. “She is an angel and she always made things better.”
“Look, he’s a very successful dude. I will never talk to him again. He’s a terrible narcissist, and I don’t think you ever get out of that,” he continued. “When you have a wife like that and a family like that, how do you bust that up?”
