The former Full House star Lori Loughlin has separated from her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli after 28 years of marriage. This comes five years after their infamous college admissions scandal sent them both to prison.

Loughlin And Giannulli Split

“They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage. There are no legal proceedings at this time,” Loughlin’s representative Elizabeth Much told People Magazine.

Daily Mail has since confirmed that on Wednesday night, Loughlin was seen being comforted by the late actress by Anne Heche’s ex-partner and her former co-star James Tupper. They were spotted together outside the Bird Streets Club in Los Angeles.

Loughlin, 61, and Tupper, 60, starred together in the 2023 TV movie Fall Into Winter. One year later, they acted together onscreen once again in A Christmas Blessing.

College Admissions Scandal

Loughlin, 61, and Giannulli, 62, had listed their 11,800-square-foot mansion in Hidden Hills, California for $16.5 million back in February. They had bought the home for $9.5 million in August of 2020. This was one year after their infamous college admissions scandal involving their two daughters broke.

Loughlin and Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 to have their daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli’s admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team. They did this despite the fact that neither daughter had ever taken part in crew.

Though they initially fought the allegations against them, they finally gave in after a media firestorm that lasted for months. In May of 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud.

Loughlin was ultimately sentenced to two months in prison, serving out her sentence from October to December of 2020. Meanwhile, Giannulli was sentenced to five months behind bars. He began his sentence in November of 2020 and was released to home confinement in April of 2021.

Loughlin wasn’t the only actress involved in this scandal. Indeed, the former Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman served 11 days in prison for her own role in the controversy.

Loughlin Talks Forgiveness

In April of last year, Loughlin sat down for her first major interview since the scandal. While she didn’t address it directly, she appeared to allude to it as she talked about forgiveness.

“I try to be a forgiving person,” Loughlin told First for Women Magazine. “I’m not one to hold onto stuff. Stuff happens to everyone. We’ve all been in positions to ask for forgiveness but to ask for it, you have to learn and know how to give forgiveness, too.”

“My family wasn’t one to hold grudges. I didn’t grow up in a household where if you made a mistake, you weren’t forgiven,” she continued. “No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. So I was always told to let stuff go. And I think for your own health, you have to let things go because you can’t hang on to negativity. Life’s too short.”

When asked what her secret is to overcoming life’s challenges, Loughlin replied, “For me, it’s just persevering.”

“As an actress, I hear ‘no’ a lot, so I just have to be myself and persevere and try not to let in negativity,” she explained in this 2024 interview. “My advice is to just keep moving forward. Everyone has good times and bad times. That’s life. I think you just have to pick yourself up. Nobody said life was going to be a breeze. There’s beauty in life, but there’s also hardship in life.”

It’s clearly been a very difficult few years for both Loughlin and Giannulli. We wish them both the best of luck as they navigate this new chapter of their lives!
