It’s been ten months since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. Last week, we reported that Lopez and Affleck had reunited on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of her new movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Now, fans are in shock as rumors are swirling that Lopez and Affleck might be back together.
Are Lopez And Affleck Back Together?
Friends of Lopez, 56, and Affleck, 53, are claiming that they might be giving their romance one more shot.
“It’s complicated,” an insider told The Sun. “They’ve fallen back into it, not that they ever really fell out of it. They never cut each other out of their lives.
“They do seem to be together. But in a very on-off complicated way. They spend a lot of time with each other, and with the kids together,” the source continued. “If you ask their teams, the line is they are very good friends and want to be in each other’s lives as a big family with the kids.”
Lopez and Affleck’s chemistry with one another was on full display at the Kiss of the Spider Woman premiere. Affleck executive produced the movie, which is garnering Oscar buzz for Lopez in the Best Supporting Actress category.
The insider went on to explain that for Lopez and Affleck, there are complex emotions that are tied to this film.
“At the time of working on the set of this new movie Kiss of the Spider Woman, they were splitting up – but still working together every day, and sleeping together, and fighting,” the source stated. “So it’s quite an intense association for them.”
“Then when filming stopped, obviously Ben was still working on it post-production. He’s absolutely gushing about her performance in it. He thinks she was really incredible. And they both said working together on this was an amazing experience,” the insider added. “This is her crowning glory movie, and they’ve been spending a lot of time together working on the publicity these past few weeks.”
Affleck Gushes Over Lopez
Despite being divorced from Lopez, Affleck hasn’t hesitated to gush over her performance in this movie.
“This is a role that Jennifer is just so spectacular in and it’s exactly the kind of role that she’s dreamed of playing her whole career,” Affleck recently said. “It’s hard to imagine she hasn’t had some opportunities, but that’s actually true, and she kind of seized this thing with both hands and did something spectacular and beautiful.”
As for Lopez, she’s admitted that she “barely managed to get through” filming Kiss of the Spider Woman, as she was going through a “really tough time” in her life.
“I’m told that doing the movie publicity for the last few weeks has seen them falling back into the pattern, he’s the one who is really making the big effort, and he’s also telling her he’s making such a huge effort to change for the better to make it up to her,” the friend alleged.
“If you’re around them, the chemistry between them is insane,” the source concluded. “I would think she hates how he humiliated her with the split, especially as she was making such a big deal about their big love story. Jen has always been trying to save and fix Ben, since they day they met, it’s been that kind of relationship between them – very intense, and very push and pull.”
Lopez And Affleck’s History
Though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Indeed, Affleck married Jennifer Garner, an actress best known for starring in the hit TV show Alias, in 2005. They had three children together before they divorced in 2018.
Meanwhile, Lopez married the singer Marc Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. He’s the father of her 17 year-old twins.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They went on to marry in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
Clearly, “complicated” is the perfect word to describe what’s happening here. Only time will tell if Lopez and Affleck ever officially get back together!
