It’s been ten months since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. On Monday night, Lopez and Affleck shocked everyone when they reunited on the red carpet of the new movie Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Lopez And Affleck Reunite
Lopez, 56, stars in the new movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, which officially hits theaters on Friday. Affleck, 53, executive produced the film, which is already garnering Oscar buzz.
Despite being divorced, Lopez and Affleck reunited on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman. Affleck’s appearance came as a surprise, as he was not expected at this premiere.
Lopez showed up to the premiere wearing a sculptural gown from Harris Reed’s spring 2026 collection. Before the movie was screened, Lopez made a point of thanking Affleck as she introduced the film.
“Thank you so much, thank you everybody for being here tonight,” she gushed. “Thank you, Ben, this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben and without Artists Equity.”
“I read the script, if you know, I was in bed and I was just floored,” Lopez continued. She then said that she “was just like could this be happening right now. I get to sing, I get to dance, I get to act. I get to be an old-time Hollywood movie star.”

Lopez Gives Props To Affleck
Earlier in the day, Lopez credited Affleck with helping to get this movie made while appearing on the TODAY show.
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” she admitted. “And I will always give him that credit.”
Lopez went on to reference their divorce, saying, “Things happen, you have to keep going.”
Lopez filmed Kiss of the Spider Woman in the midst of her divorce. She admitted that making this movie was a healing experience for her.
“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives. Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”
“After [filming] I took some time off and now we’re back,” Lopez continued. “I’m really excited for everybody to see this film. It’s a beautiful film about love.”
When asked if this movie “saved” her, Lopez replied, “It did, it did!”

Lopez And Affleck’s History
Though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Indeed, Affleck married Jennifer Garner, an actress best known for starring in the hit TV show Alias, in 2005. They had three children together before they divorced in 2018.
Meanwhile, Lopez married the singer Marc Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. He’s the father of her 17 year-old twins.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They went on to marry in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
Though they’ve been divorced for months, it can’t be denied that Lopez and Affleck still share quite a bit of chemistry. While there’s no indication that they’re getting back together, it would certainly be interesting to see what would happen if they gave their love one more shot!
