Kate Middleton and her father-in-law King Charles celebrated Christmas together on Wednesday after they both had a “brutal” year in which they each battled cancer.
Royals Celebrate Christmas
Kate, 42, smiled broadly as she joined Charles, 76, for the traditional Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church from the royal Sandringham estate. Accompanying Kate was her husband Prince William, 42, and their three children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Kate wore a green Alexander McQueen coat for the outing. She completed her look with matching fascinator and gloves, along with black gloves and boots. Meanwhile, Kate beamed as she greeted well-wishers and thanked them for their support.
Considering her battle with cancer, she’s looking as great as ever.

Charles’ Christmas Address
Also on Wednesday, Charles gave the traditional royal Christmas address to the British people.
“I am speaking to you today from the Chapel of the former Middlesex Hospital in London – now itself a vibrant community space – and thinking especially of the many thousands of professionals and volunteers here in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth who, with their skills and out of the goodness of their heart, care for others – often at some cost to themselves,” Charles said.
“From a personal point of view, I offer special, heartfelt thanks to the selfless doctors and nurses who this year have supported me and other members of my family through the uncertainties and anxieties of illness and have helped provide the strength, care and comfort we have needed,” he continued. “I am deeply grateful, too, to all those who have offered us their own kind words of sympathy and encouragement.”
Charles went on to talk about the importance of compassion in difficult times.
“All of us go through some form of suffering at some stage in our life, be it mental or physical,” he said. “The degree to which we help one another – and draw support from each other, be we people of faith or of none – is a measure of our civilization as nations. This is what continually impresses me, as my family and I meet with, and listen to, those who dedicate their lives to helping others.”

‘Brutal’ Year For Royals
Both Kate and Charles have battled unspecified forms of cancer this year. While Kate revealed that she’s “cancer-free” back in September, Charles’ treatments are still ongoing. Last month, William described 2024 as being the hardest year of his life.
“Honestly, it’s been dreadful,” William told The Associated Press. “So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”
“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,” he continued. “But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
While announcing that she was cancer-free in September, Kate described her illness as being “incredibly tough for us as a family.”
Indeed, you can check out her full comments on that in the video below.
