It’s been two months since we reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had finalized their divorce. This came after 19 years of marriage and two daughters together.
Now, insiders are claiming that Kidman and Urban’s divorce has taken a new ugly turn. According to these sources, Urban is going through a “midlife crisis” of sorts.
Kidman Joyous As Urban Struggles
Kidman, 58, proudly attended the Oscars alone on Sunday night. She then attended the Vanity Fair afterparty, where she was seen smiling and laughing joyously as she mingled about.
The night before that, Kidman attended the pre-Oscars ball with her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. When asked about her plans for that night, Kidman replied that she and the girls would “sort of just tucking ourselves in, go home, have a bath and go to bed.”
“I may go out to a party or two… I should go out,” she added with a smile.
Meanwhile, Urban, 58, was 5,000 miles away performing at the O2 Arena in London. Unlike Kidman, he was not looking so joyful.
“We’re here to friggin’ forget about our lives outside of this arena,” Urban told the crowd.
Yikes!
Kidman And Urban Aren’t Speaking
An insider told Daily Mail that Kidman and Urban are not even speaking these days. This source went on to say that Urban is going through a “midlife crisis,” and that he has “turned into a totally different person” over the past few months.
“Nicole and Keith don’t really communicate,” the insider said. “Things got really bad at the end of their relationship and haven’t rebounded.”
“Keith seems to really want to live the single life, almost like a midlife crisis since the split,” the source continued. “He’s turned into a totally different person. It’s like she doesn’t know him at all anymore.”
Urban was left feeling “numb” when his daughter Sunday, who is a model, failed to mention him at all when she was interviewed by Elle Australia over the weekend. Instead, she only named Kidman as her inspiration in life.
“My mum is someone who has always been so creative and my biggest inspiration in life,’ Sunday Rose told the publication,” Sunday gushed. “She is a key part of everything I do.”
This snub reportedly left Urban feeling “heartbroken.”
“It’s like he doesn’t exist,” a source close to Urban lamented. “Keith doesn’t know what to say, but he’s trying to put on a brave front. He knows he has to be patient; however, this latest snub – so publicly, there in black and white – has stumped him.”
Kidman ‘Hasn’t Turned The Kids On Him’
That being said, sources are insisting that Kidman has not turned her daughters against their father. Instead, according to these insiders, the girls are old enough to make up their own minds about the situation.
“Nicole hasn’t turned the kids on him, they’ve made their own choices about their dad,” said one source. “She isn’t like that. Keith hasn’t tried much to make things better in their eyes. The girls have always been very close with their mother. They are her everything.”
This insider went on to say that Urban’s behavior since splitting with Kidman back in September hasn’t gone over well with their daughters.
“Keith has been drawn to younger women now that he’s single and at least in the beginning when they first split, was going out a lot more and enjoying the lifestyle. He didn’t take the split well,” the insider said. “Nicole isn’t necessarily focused on finding a man or dating. It wouldn’t be surprising to see her with someone not famous, though.”
‘The Girls Are Definitely Team Nicole’
Luckily for Kidman, her daughters are firmly on her side.
“The girls are definitely Team Nicole – they’re in her corner, they’re hurt and angry on her behalf,” another source said. “There’s some resentment against Keith. If they are blaming someone, it’s him not her.”
“They’re really close to her. Nicole decided that she had a second chance at motherhood and has always taken it so seriously after everything that happened with Tom Cruise and those kids,” the insider added. “She has been a fantastic mother, and the girls know it. So of course, they’re going to be close to her and protective of her.”
This was a reference to Kidman’s ex-husband Cruise, who she was married to from 1990 until 2001. They adopted two children together during their marriage, and it is believed that they are estranged from Kidman.
“Keith knows they’re mad at him, and it’s hurtful. He’s really worried about his relationship with them both. He’s hurt, but he feels like he can patch things up. He doesn’t blame Nicole and it doesn’t seem like she’s alienating them from him,” the source concluded. “But he knows he has a lot of work to do, to repair things with them. But he’s determined to do it.”
Divorce is never easy, especially when their are children involved. Perhaps when the dust settles, Sunday and Faith will decide to give their father another shot. In the end, life is too short to hold grudges, particularly when it comes to family. Here’s hoping this works out for everyone involved!
