We previously reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time. Now, Kidman is reportedly “looking forward” to Christmas as her divorce continues.
Kidman ‘Looking Forward’ To Christmas
An insider told People Magazine that after a “stressful” fall, Kidman is focused on spending time with her and Urban’s two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
“Nicole’s doing well. It’s been quite the stressful fall, though, and she’s looking forward to a Christmas break,” the insider said. “She has several holiday traditions that she has kept for much of her life. The holidays have always been a family-centered time, whether in Nashville or back home in Australia.”
“She loves sharing it with her daughters. It will just be a different celebration this year,” the source added. “Nicole and Keith continue to co-parent. The focus is on their daughters. They both want to create a stable and supportive environment for them.”
This comes after another insider spoke out last month to say that there is “no drama” when it comes to Kidman and Urban’s daughters splitting their time between their parents. Indeed, that source explained that the girls are navigating splitting their time between their two parents well.
“Their daughters live with Nicole, but spend as much time with Keith as they want,” the insider stated. “There is no drama.”
Kidman And Urban’s Parenting Plan
After Kidman filed for divorce at the end of September, she and Urban agreed to a parenting plan. According to this plan, they are speak badly of each other or other members of the other parent’s family.
The parenting plan states that the former couple will “encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.” It also mandated that both Kidman and Urban had to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing.
It was agreed upon that Kidman would be the primary residential parent of their daughters. She gets them for 306 days of the year while Urban will get 59 days with them.
Kidman And Urban’s History
Unbeknownst to fans, Urban and Kidman secretly separated back in June. Urban was the one who initiated the split, and he immediately moved out of the family home and into his own residence in Nashville.
Kidman then spent the summer desperately trying to save their marriage. The actress finally gave in and filed for divorce on September 30.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Another insider told US Weekly. that Kidman “had faith they could work it out” after being “quietly separated for a while.”
“This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated,” the source lamented. “Her trust was lost, and it was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”
Divorce is never easy, particularly when there are children involved. Please join us in saying a prayer for Kidman and Urban as they navigate this new chapter of their lives!
