The 98th annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday night. It was hosted by the comedian Conan O’Brien. During his opening monologue, O’Brien took a brutal swipe at the conservative musician Kid Rock. Now, Kid Rock is firing back in a big way.
O’Brien Takes Dig At Kid Rock
O’Brien kicked off the Oscars by warning the liberal elites of Hollywood that the show could “get political.” He then took aim at Kid Rock, who is known for his MAGA views.
“I should warn you tonight could get political, OK?” said O’Brien, 62. “If that makes you uncomfortable there’s an alternate Oscars being hosted by Kid Rock.”
“It’s at the Dave & Busters down the street, [and there are a] lot of tickets for that,” he added before finally moving on.

Kid Rock Fires Back
This didn’t sit well with Kid Rock. Indeed, he immediately fired back the next day on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“I love a good joke, even when I am the butt of it, unfortunately this was not a very good one,” Kid Rock wrote.
Kid Rock went on to promote his upcoming tour. It kicks off on Friday, May 1, in Dallas.
“Either way, if you want to see a REAL good show this spring/summer that celebrates America and 250 years of Freedom – make sure you buy your tickets from (ugh) Ticketmaster for my Freedom 250 tour – The Road To Nashville,” he continued. “There is a reason for this, TRUST ME!”
Good for Kid Rock for spinning this attack from a Hollywood liberal elite into an opportunity to promote his own tour!
Kid Rock’s Halftime Show
O’Brien’s joke was actually a reference to the alternative halftime show that Kid Rock was heavily involved in. Turning Point USA had launched this halftime show to protest Bad Bunny performing at Super Bowl LX. Kid Rock performed during the show, as did Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.
In the lead-up to this alternative halftime show, Kid Rock gushed over how excited he was to be the headliner of this rival programming.
“He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool,” Kid Rock said of Bad Bunny before the show. “We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”
“We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath,” he continued. “Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible … or is it?”
While performing during his alternative halftime show, Kid Rock urged Americans to pick up their Bibles and give their hearts to Jesus Christ.
“There’s a book sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off,” he sang. “There’s a Man who died for all our sins, hanging from a cross. You can give your life to Jesus, and He’ll give you a second chance…”
Kid Rock is one of the few celebrities out there who is unafraid to be open about his conservative Christian views. That’s why the liberal elites of Hollywood absolutely despise him.
In the end, we would have to agree that O’Brien’s joke about Kid Rock simply was not a good one. Nice try, Conan, but it’s safe to say that Kid Rock won this one!
