Earlier this week, we reported that Kelly Clarkson has decided to end her eponymous talk show.
Despite the success of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the original American Idol winner has decided to end the program to spend more time with her two young children. This comes after they lost their father, Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, to cancer in August of last year.
Now, insiders are speaking out to reveal what Clarkson’s next chapter will be.
Clarkson’s Next Chapter
“After years of an intense daily schedule, she’s excited to move at a different pace. And have more flexibility to spend time with her kids without the structure of a daily show,” a source told People Magazine.
“This change gives her the space to be more present at home while still doing the creative work she loves,” the insider continued. “Kelly still wants to make music and perform. And she’s open to popping up on projects she enjoys, but nothing that requires an ongoing daily grind. For her, this next phase is about balance.”
Clarkson announced on Instagram on Monday that her show will be ending after the current season. Episodes will continue to air through the fall of 2026.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson wrote. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show. And to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”
Clarkson went on to say that her decision to end her talk show will allow her to “prioritize” her two children. She is mother to a daughter River, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9. She shared them with her ex-husband Blackstock. He tragically died in August at the age of 48 after a battle with melanoma. This is a serious form of skin cancer.
The Kelly Clarkson Show
The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered back in 2019. It’s become one of the most popular shows in daytime television, winning 24 Daytime Emmy Awards. This includes four consecutive wins for Clarkson for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
Those who work on The Kelly Clarkson Show were reportedly not surprised by the American Idol winner’s decision to end it.
“Kelly has had an incredible life and everything she touches seems to become a hit,” a show insider told Daily Mail last month. “She loves her talk show, but it is on the bottom of her list of things she would like to continue doing moving forward. She is going to continue to give it her all this season, but she would like to wind it down and end it while still on top.”
While Clarkson will be dearly missed in the world of daytime TV, we certainly can’t argue with her wanting to prioritize her two young children as they continue to grieve their father.
We wish you the best of luck on your next chapter, Kelly Clarkson!
