Kelly Clarkson has announced that her eponymous talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show will be ending after seven seasons. She also revealed the reason why she made the decision herself to end the program.

Clarkson Ends Talk Show

Clarkson, 43, took to Instagram on Monday evening to make this announcement to her fans.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson wrote. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”

“Because of all that, this was not an easy decision,” she added. “But this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Clarkson’s Reason Why

Clarkson went on to reveal that she’s decided to end the show so that she can spend more time with her two young children, who lost their father Brandon Blackstock to cancer last summer. Clarkson’s daughter River Rose is 11, and her son Remington Alexander is 9.

“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” Clarkson continued.

Though Clarkson is ending her daily talk show, she wants her fans to know that “this isn’t goodbye.”

“I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time,” Clarkson assured fans. “You never know where I might show up next.”

“For now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives,” Clarkson concluded. “And for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show’s Success

The Kelly Clarkson Show, which premiered back in 2019, will continue to air through the fall of 2026. It’s become one of the most popular shows in daytime television, winning 24 Daytime Emmy Awards. This includes four consecutive wins for Clarkson for Outstanding Talk Show Host.

Those who work on The Kelly Clarkson Show were reportedly not surprised by the American Idol winner’s decision to end it.

“Kelly has had an incredible life and everything she touches seems to become a hit,” a show insider told Daily Mail last month. ‘She loves her talk show, but it is on the bottom of her list of things she would like to continue doing moving forward. She is going to continue to give it her all this season, but she would like to wind it down and end it while still on top.”

Network Executive Speaks Out

NBCUniversal Syndication Studios executive vice president Tracie Wilson has since released a statement about the show ending. She said that the talk show “has been an extraordinary collaboration.”

“I’m grateful to Kelly for bringing her talent and energy to this,” Wilson gushed. “Her warmth, quick sense of humor and connection with people created a show that made fans feel seen, heard and a little bit better about their day.”

In the months since Clarkson’s ex-husband Blackstock passed away, she’s been open about wanting to prioritize her children as they grieve. While we will miss The Kelly Clarkson Show, we can’t argue with her desire to put her children first right now during this tragic time.

God bless you, Kelly Clarkson!
