Last month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Now, friends of Urban are speaking out to express fears for his wellbeing. Indeed, they believe that the country music star is “in an emotional free fall” amidst this divorce.
Urban Is ‘Running On Empty’
Last month, Urban playfully collapsed onstage during a concert when a fan told him that her name was Nicole.
An insider told Yahoo News that Urban’s mock agony over this was “obviously Keith’s way of making light of his current situation. But the painful and undeniable truth is he’s extremely fragile, and a lot of folks are worried about him.”
Another source close to Urban alleged that the country music star’s friends are fearful that he’s in an emotional spiral.
“He’s running on empty,” the insider stated. “He’s acting like a lost soul, and there’s concern he’s in an emotional free fall without Nicole by his side.”
The source went on to say that Urban “has given everything he has to becoming a better musician, and right now it looks like that’s wrecked his personal life.”
“Even in their happiest years, Keith’s desire to be a loner tested Nicole’s patience,” the insider claimed. “Now that they’ve called it quits, Keith is more alone than ever.”
Making matters even worse for Urban is the fact that the couple’s former friends have firmly taken Kidman’s side.
“As sad as it is, he’s going to go it alone for this next chapter in his life,” the source concluded. “And he’s going to do it far away from Los Angeles — just how he likes it.”
Urban ‘In Hiding’ Amidst Divorce Drama
This comes after other insiders claimed that Urban is “embarrassed” and “in hiding” amidst this divorce battle.
“Things are just too awkward right now. And Keith just doesn’t have the confidence to face all the press,” a source close to Urban told Woman’s Day last month. “He’s got paps hunting him down and he’s no longer taking direct calls. Part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce.”
Urban even skipped the premiere event of his new reality television competition show The Road. The event was held on 15 October on the rooftop of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Though Urban lives in Nashville, he was nowhere to be found.
“He’s annoyed to have missed this. But part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce,” the source explained. “The last thing he needs is to overshadow his new show with all his personal issues.”
“He knows he’s being painted as the bad guy,” the insider added. “And he doesn’t want that to be the focus of The Road. He owes that to the contestants and crew.”
Kidman Feels ‘So Much Resentment’
As for Kidman, those close to her are saying that she is feeling “so much resentment” towards Urban. Indeed, he was the “love of her life.”
“In so many respects Nicole is doing brilliantly,” a source close to Kidman told Star Magazine. “She’s been a total pro throughout this, and her number one goal is to stay strong and not crumble for the sake of her daughters, as well as herself.”
The insider went on to say that this is “easier said than done.”
“Keith was the love of her life, and it’s not that simple to just turn those feelings off like a tap,” the source concluded. “She’s been on autopilot, cramming her schedule like crazy and sticking tight to friends who are longing to set her up for some fun once she gives the word.”
