Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant are usually one of Hollywood’s most private couples, but the pair recently offered a glimpse into how their relationship feels from the inside.
Sharing Their Love Life
When People asked Matrix legend Reeves, 61, whether visual artist Grant, 53, was an “easy woman to love,” he instantly beamed “Yes!”
The couple – who tied the knot in 2018 – then reflected on how their relationship has shifted over time.
Grant spoke about the way her art mirrors her emotional life, saying, “That’s a big question. I would say that all painting is autobiographical, even though maybe even in abstraction it doesn’t look like there’s a big narrative, but I would definitely say that my paintings become happier.”
Reeves, in classic Keanu fashion, kept his answer short and mysterious, adding, “I don’t know if it has.”

Meanwhile, Winona Ryder previously revealed that she and Reeves still refer to one another as “husband” and “wife,” a running gag that dates back to their 1992 film Dracula.
In the movie, their characters marry. Director Francis Ford Coppola famously brought in a real Romanian priest for the ceremony.
Ryder explained that the two still text regularly. Every birthday message turns into a playful nod to their on‑screen vows. She said Reeves always replies with a cheerful greeting signed with his initials and age, a tradition she says he’s kept up for years.
Texting Regularly
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2024, Ryder said that despite both being “the two biggest luddites on the planet,” they still text regularly.
She said, “On his birthday, when I’m like, ‘Happy Birthday, my husband!’ and I put ‘Noni,’ he’s like, ‘Hey, wife! Love you, KR 57.’”
Reeves has previously backed up the story. He noted that the priest performed the entire ceremony on camera. Both Ryder and Coppola insist that the pair are “married under the eyes of God.”
He told Esquire, “We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests… Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”
Their affection isn’t new. Years ago, Ryder admitted she once had a “pretty big healthy crush” on Reeves – and he immediately responded, “I had a big healthy crush on you too.”
