It’s been a rough few months for the pop star Katy Perry. In fact, to say things have not been going well for her might just be the understatement of the century.
Back in April, Perry went to space for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin crew. In the months since, this has blown up in Perry’s face, as the backlash over this flight has been relentless. It’s even been reported that Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.
Last month, things got even worse for Perry when she split from her boyfriend Orlando Bloom, an actor best known for starring in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchises. Perry and Bloom had been together for nine years, and they share a 4 year-old daughter named Daisy.
Now, it appears that these setbacks have finally gotten to Perry. On Tuesday night, Perry stopped a concert in Los Angeles when she became overwhelmed with emotion. This was seemingly due to her split from Bloom.
Perry Gets Emotional Mid-Concert
On Tuesday night, Perry, 40, performed at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The show was going smoothly until the “Choose Your Own Adventure” segment, which is when Perry gives her fans the chance to vote on what song she performs. Perry was visibly shocked when the results of the fan vote showed that they had picked “Not Like the Movies,” which is a heartbreak ballad.
“You’re gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life?” Perry asked.
“OK, we’ll do it! Because you voted for it,” Perry added, going on to say that her fans had also chosen “The One That Got Away.”
“I let you choose the song tonight because I like to pick an album for every country that I go to and for the U.S.A., I picked Teenage Dream because U.S.A., you could be a teenage dream baby,” she explained. “You better get it together. I’ll always have that feeling for you.”
Referring to “Not Like The Movies,” Perry stated, “This next song I wrote in my 20s… after my first divorce.”
Perry was married to the British comedic personality Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012.
Perry then warned her fans that she would “try and hold my composure while I sing it a week before my period.”
Despite this, Perry could not help but get overcome with emotion at various points throughout the song. Check out a portion of her performance in the video below.
Perry And Bloom Split
Perry and Bloom, 48, announced their split to the world towards the end of June.
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source close to the former couple told US Weekly at the time. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
This insider went on to allege that the split was “a long time coming” as things between Perry and Bloom “have been tense for months.”

Perry ‘Disappointed And Sad’ By Bloom’s Conduct
Days after their breakup was announced, Bloom was spotted enjoying his newly single status while spending a week partying in Italy for the billionaire Jeff Bezos’ wedding to Lauren Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Perry was thousands of miles away performing in Australia for her Lifetimes tour. Sources close to Perry said that she was “sad” to see Bloom gleefully partying hard during what she feels should be a difficult time for them both.
“It’s disappointing,” an insider told Daily Mail. “It’s hurtful and annoying. If he’s going to behave like an acting-up adolescent, that’s on him. She’s going to continue to work and take care of Daisy.”
“Katy knows that he’s free to do whatever the hell he wants to do. She hoped he’d do it a little more discreetly and thoughtfully,” the source continued. “So she’s disappointed and sad.”
With her career in shambles in the wake of her Blue Origin space flight, and her personal life in shambles amidst her Bloom split, this has clearly been a very difficult time for Perry. Only time will tell if Perry can bounce back from all of this!
