The singer Katy Perry stopped a concert on Sunday when a young fan collapsed onstage with her. After rushing to help the girl, Perry begged the audience to pray.
Perry Fan Collapses Onstage
Perry, 40, was performing at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday night as part of her Lifetimes tour. During her shows, Perry is known to invite fans onstage with her.
Perry was about to perform her hit song “The One That Got Away” when the young fan, whose name is McKenna, appeared to be overcome with emotion at being chosen to come onstage with the iconic performer. Perry seemed to notice this when she handed out shaker instruments to McKenna and the other chosen audience members.
“Let’s practice. You got this, and let’s breathe,” Perry can be seen saying in video that has since gone viral.
McKenna responded to this by immediately fainting on the stage, much to the horror of Perry and the audience. Without missing a beat, Perry knelt down to help McKenna by supporting her head as medics rushed the stage.

Perry Prays For McKenna
In another viral clip, Perry brought the rest of the onstage fans together to pray. She then urged the audience of 13,000 fans to pray with them.
“‘Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” Perry said.

The entire stadium of 13,000 fans chanted McKenna’s name as she was carried away. Perry went on to talk about how “overwhelming” it can be to get onstage in front of thousands of people.
“It’s so much,” Perry said. “Sometimes you’re so brave and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling.”
Later in the show, Perry gave her fans an update on the situation
“McKenna’s doing great, by the way,” Perry said. This was later confirmed to Billboard by multiple backstage sources.
Thank goodness for that. This is one concert that both McKenna and Perry will never forget!
Perry’s Previous Concert Mishap
The North American leg of Perry’s Lifetimes tour is set to run through August 30, when she will be performing in Miami, Florida. Perry will then head overseas for shows in South America, Europe and Asia.
This isn’t the first time a concert on this tour has gone off the rails for Perry. Last month, Perry was performing her song “Roar” in San Francisco, California when she was left dangling in mid-air due to a terrifying malfunction.
Perry was sitting on a flying butterfly prop when it suddenly malfunctioned mid-air. This left her hanging on for dear life as she narrowly avoided falling into the audience at the Chase Center.
Perry stopped singing and looked visibly panicked as the malfunction occurred. She let out a yelp and nervously looked up at the wires that the butterfly was attached to. Perry was able to compose herself within a few seconds, and she quickly continued the song.

Perry’s Difficult Year
This comes after a difficult few months for Perry. Back in April, she found herself being targeted by cancel culture after she went to space for 11 minutes on a Blue Origin flight. This backfired on her when the flight was met with ridicule and anger from the general public,
Things got even worse for Perry in June, when she announced her breakup with The Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom. Though they never married, Perry and Bloom were together for nine years. They share a 4 year-old daughter named Daisy.
