Last week, we reported that CBS had fired Stephen Colbert and canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In the days since then, Colbert and his supporters have been trying to portray him as a martyr who was fired for political reasons due to him being critical of President Donald Trump. They’ve conveniently ignored the fact that CBS was losing $40-50 million a year on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which only confirms the network’s claim that the show was canceled for political reasons.

Now, Judge Judy Sheindlin is weighing in. Unfortunately for Colbert, she’s pouring hot water on his entire victim narrative. After decades of working in television, Sheindlin understands exactly why CBS canceled this show.

Judge Judy Sounds Off

After Colbert’s firing, a TMZ reporter approached Sheindlin on the streets of New York City. There, she was asked about her reaction to CBS’ decision to cancel Colbert’s show.

“I have very little reaction,” replied Sheindlin, 82. “When a show loses money, it gets cancelled.”

Say it louder for the people in the back, Judge Judy! Indeed, despite what Colbert and his fellow leftists say, it really is as simple as that.

Not stopping there, Sheindlin proceeded to double down when asked if she’s heard that some are attributing Colbert’s firing to Trump.

“I hear a lot of things. CBS is in the business of making money,” Sheindlin replied. “They gotta do what they gotta do! Otherwise your shareholders are gonna sue you.”

Sheindlin’s Advice For Colbert

Finally, when asked what advice she’s give Colbert, Sheindlin said, “Rewire. You’ll find something fun to do. I did, and I’m much older than you are.”

Colbert might want to listen to Sheindlin, as she knows a thing or two about this. She did 25 seasons of her own show Judge Judy before it ended on July 23, 2021. Sheindlin has indicated in the past that she decided to leave the show due to her own problems with CBS.

Sheindlin has since “rewired” by heading to Amazon, where she hosts Judy Justice. However, her reign on daytime television has also continued. Two years ago, CBS renewed its package of vintage Judge Judy episodes.

Colbert, 61, might have a bit more trouble reinventing himself. While Sheindlin went out on a high when Judge Judy ended, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has long been struggling in the ratings.

‘Colbert Gets No Advertising…’

Though Colbert’s show is technically the number one show in the ratings in its time slot, that’s not saying much, given the current state of late night. After years of late night being shamelessly politicized by the left, half of the audience has been completely alienated. This has left fewer people actually watching late night these days than ever before.

“Colbert gets no advertising and late night is a tough spot,” one source with direct knowledge of CBS’s decision told The New York Post. “Colbert might be No. 1, but who watches late night TV anymore?”

The insider went on to say that CBS is a “melting ice cube” with its losses and cost overruns. That’s why executives are launching a plan to enhance CBS Sports. They also are eager to invest in in “truth-based” news at a network that conservatives have long claimed has a strong liberal bias.

The Late Show’s Extreme Liberal Bias

It should be noted that according to a new report from The New York Post, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has hosted 176 Democrat guests since 2022. During that same time, the late night show has only hosted one Republican guest. This only confirms the extreme liberal bias that has forever alienated half the audience.

Since we are living in a time in which streaming services and TikTok give Americans more options of things to watch than ever late at night, alienating so many potential viewers is something that Colbert simply couldn’t afford to do. That’s why when it comes to The Late Show being canceled, Colbert only has himself to blame.

In the end, Colbert should take the words of the wise Judge Judy into account. After decades of success in the entertainment industry, she knows that a show that is losing $40-50 million a year can’t stay on the air. Only time will tell if Colbert is able to “rewire” and bounce back like Judge Judy Sheindlin did!
