Last week, we reported that the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp, the daughter of the legendary musician John Mellencamp, had been diagnosed with four more brain tumors amidst her stage 4 battle with cancer. Teddi, 43, has now revealed the heartbreaking request that she had for her father as she plans her own burial.
John Calls Teddi
On the latest episode of her Two Ts In A Pod podcast, Teddi revealed that John, 73, just called her up to confirm that she wants to be part of their “group family mausoleum” in Indiana.
“Yesterday my dad calls eleven times in a row. Finally I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little,'” Teddi recalled. “He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.'”
“I said, ‘I have kids, so where are they going to go?'” she continued. “He’s like, ‘Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried.”
“I go, ‘Do I need to make this commitment right now,’ and he goes, ‘You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there,” Teddi added.
Teddi is the mother of three children with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave: Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5.
Teddi Makes One Request Of John
This conversation prompted Teddi to make one heartbreaking request of John. She told him that she doesn’t want to “be a vegetable,” meaning she wants him to pull the plug if she ends up in a vegetative state. John assured her that he plans to be “in charge” of that matter if it comes to it.
How heartbreaking is that?! Indeed, it must be truly awful to have a father even have to fathom pulling the plug on his own child. However, amidst distressing medical battle such as these, heart-wrenching conversations like this one simply need to be had.
“I said… ‘This is a reminder. I don’t want to be a vegetable. I’m good to fight, fight, fight, but if I become a-‘ and he’s like, ‘I’m going to be in charge of that,'” Teddi recounted.
“I’m like, ‘Well, I’ll change my will right now then if you’re not willing to-‘ He’s like, ‘Vegetable is dependent.’ I’m like ‘what do you mean? If I’m a cucumber or a…this is not a dependent,” she stated. “It is what it is.”
In the end, Teddi agreed to be part of the family mausoleum.
“But either way, I think I agreed to be in the mausoleum and I’m gonna have to work on my sister next week,” she concluded. “The kids will be right behind me.”

Teddi’s Cancer Battle
Teddi has been dealing with melanoma on and off since 2022. One month ago, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Now, Teddi has revealed that her cancer has spread to her brain and her lungs, and doctors have found four more tumors.
“I’m fighting for my life,” Teddi told US Weekly last week. “But also for my family’s life and all the people I love.”
In the wake of the four additional tumors being found, Teddi is undergoing more aggressive treatments.
“I find out for sure exactly where we stand on June 1,” Teddi concluded. “If you need to do another round, if there’s any other surgery, if it’s the end. It’s a hard pill to swallow.”
This is clearly a very difficult time for the entire Mellencamp family. Please join us in saying a prayer for Teddi as she continues her cancer battle!
