The former First Lady Jill Biden spoke out on Monday morning to admit that she is now her husband Joe’s “caregiver.” Indeed, she confirmed that the former president “will live with cancer till the rest of his life.”

Jill Gives Update On Joe

While appearing on the TODAY show, Jill, 74, gave an update on how Joe, 83, is doing with his cancer battle. The Biden family revealed in May of 2025 that Joe had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer

“You know, he’s doing OK,” Jill told TODAY co-host Craig Melvin. “Craig, you’ve been through this with your brother, you know how tough it is. And I think if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, that’s one thing, because that can be cured, but the fact that it metastasized to his bones, that makes it a whole different story.”

“I think Joe will live with cancer till the rest of his life,” she added.

Jill went on to admit that she is now Joe’s “caregiver.”

“It’s so hard to be a caregiver in that you worry every day, ‘Is he eating right? Is he getting enough exercise? Did he have his medications?'” Jill lamented. “And I think every American family has someone in their family dealing with this. People can find hope in the fact that people are still fighting. We’re still fighting against cancer. It’s part of my legacy — I hope — it’s part of Joe’s legacy, that we will keep fighting — just like we did in those four years — we will keep fighting for the American people.”

Jill Discusses Joe’s 2024 Presidential Run

Jill later discussed Joe’s initial decision to run for a second presidential term in 2024. He ultimately dropped out of the race in July of that year amidst concerns for his health after a disastrous presidential debate against Donald Trump.

“The doctors did assure us. He had an exam every year, a health exam — like every president does — the doctors assured us he was healthy,” Jill claimed. “And I saw him doing the job every single day. Every single day he got up, he went into the office, he did the job, he passed bipartisan legislation. I saw him work hours into the night.”

However, Jill also confessed that she did actually notice some of Joe’s slips.

“Did I see him slowing down a little bit when he got tired? Did he stutter a little bit at night? Sure,” Jill acknowledged. “But he was still doing the job and he was doing a good job.”

When asked why she didn’t urge Joe to drop out of the race sooner, Jill replied, “It had to be his decision, Craig. It had to be his decision alone because he had to live with that decision for the rest of his life. I couldn’t say, ‘Joe do this’ or ‘Joe do that.’ It was his decision to run in the first place, only his, even though the family had their input, especially the grandchildren, but it was his decision to get out.”

Jill Thought Joe Was ‘Having A Stroke’

This comes one day after Jill told CBS News that she thought Joe was “having a stroke” during his infamous 2024 debate against Trump.

“I was frightened, because I had never, ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never,” Jill said.

“I don’t know what happened,” she added. “As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh, my God, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death.”

Despite this, Jill publicly praised Joe immediately after the debate.

“Joe — you did such a great job,” she said during a post-debate event with supporters. “You answered every question, you knew all the facts.”

This all serves as a reminder of just how lucky we are that the Bidens are no longer in the White House. Thankfully, America has moved on from the Biden era, and we’re never going back!
