It’s been four months since Jennifer Lopez finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck after just two years of marriage. Now, Lopez has tragically suffered a devastating facial injury while rehearsing for the 2025 American Music Awards.
Lopez Suffers Facial Injury
Lopez, 55, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday to share a series of photos that showed off her facial wounds.
“So this happened…” Lopez captioned a selfie that saw her icing her nose while smiling in a full face of makeup.
Lopez then posted a second image that depicted her with a disturbing gash on the bridge of her nose. In the caption of that photo, she wrote that she sustained the injury “during @ama rehearsals.” She did not elaborate any further on how exactly it happened.

Lopez Rushed To Plastic Surgeon
Lopez sought medical attention for her injury immediately. Indeed, she was rushed to the renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond.
“Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond,” Lopez wrote in the caption alongside an image of her posing with the Dr. 90210 star.
Lopez later revealed that this injury actually happened a week ago.
“A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new,” she wrote on social media.
Lopez is preparing to host the American Music Awards on CBS and Paramount+ on Monday, May 26.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,” Jay Penske, CEO, Dick Clark Productions, told Billboard last week.
“Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show,” he added. “We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.”
Lopez previously hosted the AMAs in 2015. On top of that, she has performed at 10 AMAs. Lopez was additionally awarded three accolades for favorite pop/rock female artist in 2003, as well as favorite Latin artist in 2007 and 2011.

Lopez And Affleck’s Divorce
Affleck and Lopez met in December of 2001 on the set of their movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Affleck and Lopez each went on to marry and divorce different people. Affleck married the former Alias star Garner in 2005 and had three children with her before they divorced in 2018. Prior to Lopez, Affleck’s union with Garner was his only marriage.
Meanwhile, Lopez married the singer Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. He’s the father of her twins.
Affleck was actually Lopez’s fourth husband. Her first marriage was to the actor Ojani Noa, who she was married to from 1997 until 1998. She then married her backup dancer Cris Judd in 2002, and they divorced the next year.
Affleck and Lopez reunited in 2021, and they married in July of 2022. Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years later, and their divorce was finalized in January of this year. Nevertheless, they have remained on good terms. Find out more about that in the video below.
