Earlier this week, we reported that Jennifer Lopez had filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after just two years of marriage. And she did it on their anniversary.

Now, it’s been revealed that Lopez and Affleck’s best friend Matt Damon will be attending the Toronto premiere of Unstoppable next month. Though Affleck produced the film, he will not be attending the premiere in the wake of Lopez’s divorce filing.

Lopez To Attend Movie Premiere – Affleck To Skip

Sources told People Magazine that Lopez, 55, who has a supporting role in the movie, will be attending its September premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in person. Affleck, 52, who produced the film alongside Damon, 53, has decided not to go. Meanwhile, Damon himself will be attending.

Unstoppable is a drama that also stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle. It was produced by Artists Equity, the company that was co-founded by Affleck and Damon. In the movie, Lopez plays the mother of Anthony Robles, a real-life wrestler who was born with one leg and eventually won a NCAA national championship in 2011.

“At home, he contends with a mother going through some growing up of her own. Jennifer Lopez, too often underrated, is terrific here,” reads a description on the official TIFF website.

Unstoppable was directed by William Goldenberg, and it is set to premiere in Toronto on September 6.

Lopez Files For Divorce

Lopez shocked the world on Tuesday when she filed for divorce from Affleck after just two years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences in the filing and listed their date of separation as April 26.

A source close to Lopez told People Magazine that she filed for divorce from Affleck after concluding that “it’s time to move on” for a variety of reasons.

“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage. He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work,” this insider said. “It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”

The source went on to say that Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck because she “was done waiting.”

“She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken,” the source later added. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

Lopez Filed On Second Wedding Anniversary

Lopez reportedly filed for divorce from Affleck on the second anniversary of their wedding celebration in front of family and friends in Georgia.

Lopez allegedly chose to file for divorce on this date in the hopes of sticking it to Affleck. However, it appears that this may have already backfired on her.

“Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the two year anniversary because she wanted to sting,” another insider told Daily Mail. “But it did not sting him. He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn’t look like the villain.”

Lopez And Affleck’s History

Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.

Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Affleck married the actress Jennifer Garner in 2005 and had three children with her before they divorced in 2018. Meanwhile, Lopez married the singer Marc Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. They had two children together.

This was Lopez’s fourth marriage, and it was Affleck’s second. They never signed a prenuptial agreement, which means that this divorce could prove to be costly for them both. It will certainly be interesting to see how this turns out!
