We previously reported that in April of 2023, the Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx suffered a mysterious health scare that had him “gone for twenty days.” Earlier this month, Foxx performed his first show since this terrifying ordeal, and he couldn’t help but become emotional.

‘God Is Good’

Foxx, 56, took to Instagram on Monday to post photos from his one-man show, “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx,” which he performed in Atlanta, Georgia.

“God is good… As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy…on October 3 fourth and fifth I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta Georgia,” Foxx wrote in his caption.

“I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,” he continued.

A Second Chance

Foxx went on to explain that this is not a stand-up comedy show. Instead, it is “an artistic explanation of some thing [sic] that went terribly wrong.”

“Thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most,” he concluded, adding the hashtag “#secondchance.”

One of the photos that Foxx posted shows him breaking down in tears onstage. Another shows him playing the piano. Foxx famously won an Oscar for portraying the blind singer, songwriter, and pianist Ray Charles in the 2005 movie Ray. A third photo showed Foxx hugging an emotional fan.

Foxx’s Mysterious Medical Crisis

Foxx has been laying relatively low since suffering an unspecified health crisis in April of last year. The health issue was so serious that Foxx had to step away from both a movie that he was filming and the Fox game show Beat Shazam, which he was hosting.

Foxx’s daughter Corinne said at the time that her father had “experienced a medical complication” the previous day. She added that “due to quick action and great care, he [was] already on his way to recovery.”

Earlier this year, video emerged of Foxx telling some fans in Phoenix that he was taken to the hospital after taking an Advil for a “bad headache.”

After snapping his fingers, Foxx said, “I was gone for 20 days,” adding that he does not “remember anything.”

“The first doctor” that Foxx saw didn’t know what was wrong with him.

“Next doctor said, ‘[There’s] something going on up there,” Foxx said, pointing to his head.

“I won’t say it on camera,” he quickly added as he looked at the person filming him.

Foxx has never revealed the specific details behind his medical episode. Clearly, he simply does not want the public to know what actually happened to him.

Regardless, we’re glad to see that Foxx is performing again and seemingly back to his normal self. Please join us in saying a prayer for him and his health moving forward!
