The Oscar-winning Hollywood star Jamie Foxx is still in the hospital three weeks after he suffered he suffered from an undisclosed medical emergency.

‘Pray For Jamie’

Sources close to Foxx, 55, told TMZ that the star’s family is asking fans to “pray for Jamie.”

Foxx’s 29 year-old daughter Corinne announced on April 12 that her father suffered a “medical complication.” She gave no further details about what this complication was, but she credited “quick action and great care” for already putting him on “his way to recovery,” according to Yahoo News.

“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” she said.

Foxx, who has never been married, is also the father of a 13 year-old daughter named Annalise Bishop. At the time of the medical emergency, Foxx had been in Atlanta, Georgia filming the movie Back in Action, which also stars Cameron Diaz. Production of the movie has continued in the weeks since Foxx was hospitalized with a stand-in being used to film the scenes that he was supposed to be in.

Foxx Won’t Host Game Show

Deadline reported that Foxx will not be hosting this season of the Fox game show “Beat Shazam” because of his medical situation, and he’ll be replaced by guest host Nick Cannon. Corinne, who DJs on the show, will be missing this season as well so that she can stay at her father’s bedside in Atlanta.

“Beat Shazam has been an unscripted mainstay on the Fox schedule for six seasons and counting,” the Fox network said in a statement. “This season, not wanting fans of the game show to miss a minute of the fun, Nick Cannon has offered to fill in as guest host for his friends, Jamie and Corinne Foxx.”

“Kelly Osbourne will be filling in as guest DJ,” the statement continued. “Everyone at Fox Entertainment wishes Jamie well as he continues his recovery and we greatly appreciate Nick’s willingness to jump in and help this summer.”

Cannon Speaks Out

Before this was announced, Cannon told Entertainment Tonight that Foxx is “awake” and “alert.”

“I know he’s doing so much better because I’m actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favor,” Cannon said on April 23. “I can’t really say what it is, but it’ll be out there soon. I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing. He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it. That’s family right there.”

Days before that, sources close to Foxx claimed to People Magazine that the star’s condition was improving.

“He’s OK, thank God,” said one insider. “He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.”

Three weeks after the mysterious medical emergency, however, Foxx remains hospitalized. While there’s no telling what’s wrong with Foxx, it’s clear from his lengthy hospitalization that whatever happened was serious. Please join us in saying a prayer for Foxx as he continues his recovery.
